Evening all.

So, the proposed TSR2 trainer version with the single piece maximum visibility canopy....  Would it have opened:
a. By sliding backwards like the Buccaneer, or
b. By pivoting upwards like the Tornado, or
c. By hinging on the side like the Hawk, but on port side obviously.

I couldn't find any guidance in my various reference books, but then I could well have been looking in the wrong places :banghead:   All options seem equally valid to me, but then what do I know?!

With @Freightdog862's conversion on the horizon, I think that we'd all benefit from suitable guidance.

I've picked on @TsrJoe 'cos the clue's in his name, but as Hissing Sid said in the late '80s, "all contributions gratefully received".

Then there is the two opening canopies like the Phantom. I know, not helping......

rear hinge, using existing pivot position, and matching existing frame profile (kindv like a big Gnat canopy)

The answer is hinged at the rear just like the original rear canopy was.

Pages 312 and 313 have drawings at the bottom of them showing thecanopy with the same two pronged hinges just like the usual canopies had.

Hi Kerick. Yup - that was the original arrangement.  But now I know definitively how the one piece main canopy would have opened on the trainer, using the existing windshield.

This is WhiffWorld, the canopy can open any way YOU like!

Maybe even straight up and back, like the F-84F canopy?

It would have made a lot of sense to open sideways, like a Hawk, to my mind though.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Multiple bolts like the hatch on an early space capsule (or modern deep sea tourist sub).  After landing you sit there and wait while the erks let you out.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.
