Leeds Scale Model Show

11 February 2024
New Dock Hall
Royal Armouries, Leeds.

Do we know anything about this show?
I recall something big being started and cancelled at the last minute a few years back. It was suggested as a grand replacement for the Huddersfield show.

It's the same organisers.  Tyneside is definitely going.

I returned a booking form to the host club back in early October, so we should have space booked.
I always hope for the best.

Dates a shame as I have a big family wedding on the Saturday

Might not be going. My transport has a Lindesfarne gig that's more important.

I need a quick head count of whos going as it isnt free entry for ehibitors. Wristbands are a fiver in advance. And I can pre order.

Before the usual suspects go off on one, I have a feeling this has been imposed by the venue not the club.

I'm interested but will talk to you at Bolton on Sunday. Need to see how my finances hold up.

Looked at getting the train to Leeds but it'd be a rail replacement coach and cost more than petrol for my car.  :-X

I'm not going as an exhibitor anyway, but certainly wouldn't now.  Banned, even as a punter.

If it is being imposed by the venue, then the organisers need to explain it to the clubs to at least mitigate any backlash.  But I for one am not prepared to accept it. You agree once, you are approving such behaviour.  The weak enslave themselves.

Won't be there Martin, at a big family wedding that weekend.

Okay, I'm going: need to visit a friend in Leeds and this is the perfect excuse to kill two birds with one stone.

Happy to pay for my own wristband if you want me to be an exhibitor Martin, or pay on the door as a punter: whatever works.

Met Office reckons there's snow on the way for later this week. At the moment they're saying Thursday and mild, but there seems to be a fair degree of uncertainly about when and where, so I'd advise keeping an eye on it, especially if (like me) going to Leeds involves crossing the Pennines.

I'm probably not going to make this one. I've just paid out £250 for new front tyres and money is a little tight this month.

I might make it to the Tank Museum Model Show this weekend if I can get a car share with the guys at the club.

I'm planning to go to this one.  First show in a while, must be 5 years.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Okay I'm awake and as far as I can tell, ready. Since I'm going as a punter, I'll be looking to get there about 10am.

Spending will have to be limited since my car is literally FULL of stuff for my friends, with one tiny space in a corner for my model boxes.

Watch me spot a dirt-cheap 1/72nd Saturn V now...
