Did something happen on "my" end of the table while I was away from the stand?

The reason I ask is that that's the wrong card: either the models or the card got swapped between the Panther and the Sabre/Fury. I also noticed as I was packing up that one of the rockets had been knocked off the Panther (no problem: it's already been glued back on).

Ooooer, so it is! I didn't actually read the card before I took the pic, stupid of me. That was taken just before you and I discussed the EmHar Fury kit, so the card had been swapped prior to that.

Firestreaks and Red Tops needed a radar to cue them onto target, i.e. they didn't "search" like an AIM-9 does. The backstory is actually that the RAF bought a mix of "Supermarine Sabres" (i.e. this) and supersonic winged, radar-equipped Hunters with Firestreak, in part as a kind of large-scale evaluation of the two diferent approaches to missiles. In this timeline far fewer subsonic Hunters were bought, although a PR version was bought instead of the Swift.

Apparently the builder was planning on making one with FOUR Lightning fuselages too, and with a VTOL capability.................

I had a quick chat with the chap concerned: his intent is for 4 fuselages, 4 wings in X formation and 5 Avons to get it off the VTOL launchpad to, I presume, a height of approx 250 feet before it runs out of fuel...

Apart from another Rotadyne, I also managed to pick up a GI bug on Sunday, which has been much less pleasant for the past 40 hrs or so.

On the plus side, however, I was able to donate the remainder of my dad's pictures - and some of mine - to IPMS for them to dispose of in due course at Telford in exchange for donations to Marie Curie. Another benefit of having the IPMS President in attendance 

It was also great to meet up again with fellow loonies Whiffers, especially the random conversations that wind up with, say, a Lancastrian fuselage with Shackleton wings used as a post WW2 pylon racer in Nevada.  The aux wing jets would come in handy if the pilot needed a quick boost in between pylons or if things got really sticky in a late turn...

I'm not sure it counts as a real Whiff though. Lockheed proposed doing it, and actually built an RC model of the project, so maybe it's a semi-Whiff, or a 'Project Cancelled'.

There was another one (can't rememeber if it was by LM or not) that had a split lower hull, each half of which extended sideways and downwards to make a pair of floats.
