So, as you may have read elsewhere on the forum, i've recently been given a model collection and stash for free, with only one condition. I have to build two VW Beetle kits for the gent who gave me what was a big part of his childhood, through to his 30s... Having recently entered Club 60 as he called it, he's getting back into his lifelong passion which is Photography and he's been collecting cameras and all of the instruments and gadgets related from different time periods and he's got quite a museum already, over 2500 items and some dating back to the 19th century... I had the privilege to see most of it and some of the older stuff was like a time machine... fascinating!
I even held one of the Kodak film developing wood boxes from the early 1900s... :o To me, just to touch it was amazing, so much history... Imagine the pics developed using that...

Anyway, back to the model in question, the VW Beetle... The Revell 1993 box of this kit is pretty beat up but everything is there so, let's see if i can make a model of a crawler instead of a flyer... ;D

Not built that one.  But I think I have some parts from a release of it moulded in shocking pink.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Plastic is white on this one and the owner had built a lot of it. Most of the bigger parts are painted but i imagine this was sprayed with a rattle can and it has some pooling of paint and the chrome on the bumpers is cracked and coming off... this will be a challenge for me, no doubt.

As a person who grew up with a dad who was semi addicted to VWs I know my dad would have loved this  ;D
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

Sometimes the simplest things can give you such a feeling of history when you hold them
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

My sister-in-law loves the old Beetles, maybe I'll pick one up as a build out of my comfort zone.
Those are a fun car, looking forward to your build!
In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

If you want a 1/24 Beetle and don't need it to have the oval rear window then look for the Tamiya kit of the 1966 1300.

My dad in his not so younger yrs rolled a small oval windowed VW ..now to give ya an idea of how short my dad was ..he went out that little oval window and ended up tangled in a barbed wire fence 😳
Yep ..later on we found that quite funny as dad did 😄
It was mentioned by a family friend that dad should have jumped into the glove box to protect himself. 😁
