Honduras army AMX-10 P

Here is my other and final model miniature  build, the AMX-10 P. The kit 20mm cannon favoured a sidewinder, the snake not the missile, so it got binned, leaving me a gap to fill on the unmanned weapons station. I didn't have anything suitable gun wise, so I ledt the weapons mount/station out, and had a root through my bits boxes and found a spare turret from an AAVP. The hole left behind in the hull for the original mount needed shimming up, so as to make a reasonably tight fit for the new turret, and a bit if putty helped also as the hole was only vaguely circular. I found some kit bags and other bits to stick on the outsides in the bits boxes too, I may put some more on yet. The vehicle belongs to a recon platoon, within the Honduras army and spends most of its time skirting the border of Honduras and Nicaragua. The kit bags look very pale in the pic, mostly due to the lighting, but they are in fact dark olive green and faded olive green.

Chris that works really well mate ...it's a better turret than the original and gives this a real recon vibe

Oh that looks good!   

Very Credible too: the Indonesian Marines have an AMX-10P variant with floatation cells on the sides and a much lighter 1-man .50 cal turret to improve buoyancy.

There were lots of alternative turrets offereted for the AMX-10P, including the 1-man Dragar turret with a 25mm + 7.62mm.

Cheers fellas the build turned out better than envisioned as it isn't a great kit. If I had a spare scimitar/scorpion turret, it could have got that stuck on it too.

Please don't remind me about the RARDEN cannon, I have awful memories of trying to test one during the Gulf War.

Luckily bud I've not had to use one ..just enjoyed it's results .
Course I've talked with the crews and some choice words had been used describing it's systems ..many would have been happier if it was duel feed belt fed instead of those clips .
3rd clips is just stupid if ya had the lay down some serious continuous fire .

And even worse if the all-pervading sand gets into the breech and seizes up the whole shebang!
