That sucks - no such thing as 'First, Do No Harm', huh? A really terrible example of lack of professional responsibility.   :banghead:

No, Dentistry seems to be more along the lines of "First, line my pocket"...

Sadly, that's probably not far from the truth...

If that's their attitude, they're dimwits. Having health services provided by public health insurance, like the NHS or our provincial plans in Canada, actually increases the salaries of the providers. People don't avoid going, and when they go, the provider gets paid. When people can't afford a procedure, no worries, the provider gets paid, and they don't have to chase down delinquent accounts. When our provncial plan was introdiced about 60 years ago, doctor salaries rose. Before it was made compulsory to accept the provincial plan, abut 20 years ago I believe, 95% of doctors were already signed on anyway, so they obiously knew it was a great way to work.

It is what it is regardless of what was intended at its inception. I have worked out my travel plan, used Google Street View so I know what landmarks to look out for so I don't miss the address I am going to and organised meeting up with TsrJoe for a coffee before I head home.

So back to normal chat before the talk about health services starts to get political.

So I went to a dentist today, only to realise on my way home that the treatment they had offered me was not the treatment I was after. Once I got home I phoned them followed by my own dentist to get things sorted out. I was after the treatment being undertaken with me under General Anesthetics rather than being under Sedation. All sorted now, I will probably have to wait another couple of years for a new appointment at a Hospital for the correct treatment.

I took the train to Glasgow for the above meeting, cost at least as much to travel one way off-peak as it does for me to get to and from work in my car! I took the bus home, which cost me nothing other than time which I didn't have this morning.

Lunch was spent drinking coffee and chatting with TsrJoe.  Projects were discussed and plans made. Things could get interesting in the future.

Sedation treatment is fine, much less risky than general anaesthetic.  I've had teeth taken out under sedation and never felt anything.    Needle in the back of the hand, you feel a bit wobbly - like being pissed - everything goes by in a blur. Afterwards, you're led into a recovery room to wait it out for about 20-30 minutes and whoever is with you takes you home to sleep it off.

when Mrs SP had sedation work done i was that escort....   and more worryingly i had to sign the paperwork to say i was a responsible adult !
But  as Wooksta said she was fine ( for normal values of ) by the time we got home.

I have my reasons for wanting the treatment I am asking for. A disadvantage to the sedation is the need of an escort, there are only my sisters who could possibly be available to do that and organising it would not be easy as driving me there and back is not something that any of them would be keen to do, let alone look after me for some time afterwards.

The choice is completely yours of course.

But i've had sedation.  Loved it.  Next time I fly Aus to UK i want an anaesthesiologist with me so I can sleep the whole way and just wake up as we land.

Well that was a short work week. Monday I was off sick due to my Diverticulitis still playing up from the weekend, Tuesday off to go to the dentist in Glasgow, and not at work today due to the very high winds, not related to the diverticulitis  :-\
No alarm set so I just let my body clock wake me up, in other words, my bladder, and then a leisurely time catching up on games on my phone while fully waking. Eventual time for getting dressed, elevenish.

Happy Weekend!

That would be me.  I was about to ask if they'd arrived.  Like I said, the bars may be a tad small for a 50s aircraft, but there's enough for one aircraft and the shield is a nice size.
