Forget a conventional or V/STOL aircraft.  You need something which the "Argies" can discredit because it's weird which to their surprise turns out to be an effective weapon.

A Helijet Fighter or a UAV sprang to mind last night while I was cleaning my teeth.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Westland SSRH (Supersonic Rotor Helicopter). Studies to increase the tip speed of the rotor (the rotor is supersonic, not the helicopter), to create a high subsonic and highly maneuverable helicopter. Naval missions were the usual ASW and AEW, but, it would have enjoyed a big advantage over fast jets due to slow speed and maneuverability, so arming it with AAMs isn'tout of the question. It ay have beennuseful in the South Atlantic due to the Mirages being at extreme range and having difficulty engaging again after the first pass.

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

QuoteThe obvious potential issues would be external noise and high power requirements.

That HAS to be the understatement of the year!  :o

Surely the crew would be flying inside a sonic boom the entire time! They'd need some SERIOUS ear defenders!
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)
