OK, a little behind today!
All the excitement of the Star Wars kits.
Anyway...

Cut out and prepared all the major parts and the interior bits. Tomorrow, buggar the Computoer until later....I'll paint theinterior, slap the fuselage and wings together ready for assembly on Wednesday after a rub down (the kit, not me!).
Dry fitting shows it to be nice. It might not be the most asccurate XVI but it'll look pretty!

Which kit is it again???

I have my USMC MkVII nearly ready for decals.  It would be done by now, but I had some kind of spasm while I was airbrushing, and have to repaint.

Can't wait to see your MKVI, though.  I think I'm starting to develop some kind of wierd spitfire fetish. . .

Terry, you really are going to need to learn how to use that digicam of yours.

Or get one of your grandkids to show you  :D

Occidental....now Italeri 1/48th Spitfire XVI. Just released.

Glued the cockpit together (10 minutes of cleaning up tiny bits plus glueing). All I've added are seatbelts from masking tape...it's such a tiny cockpit anyway.
Then it'll be painted (after I've had a quick "doze", ie afternoon nap) in US colours...green cockpit, drybrushed chromate yellow, black instrument panel, lightly drybrushed in white to bring out the detail. Each instrument "touched" with Kleer (Future) to give it a sheen. A bit of silver pencil and yellow/red paint for detail. Seat belts khaki. I'll use Games Workshop colours as they're quality and easy to use. I'll also paint the inside of the wings around the gun ports....remember this'll be an F-53D armed with 4 x 0.5" machine guns, so the leading edge of the wing has just 4 holes (I suppose I could use tubing to create gun barrels, might do on later ones, but this is a quick build, right!)

Off for a nap now!

Painted the basic colours, cooked and eaten tea....just pizza and salad, but need to do rice pudding NOW!!
I'll drybrush, detail paint after pudding....hot rice pudding with lots of nutmag and sultanas! Oooh, lovely.
Then painting and glueing the wings/fuselage halves together.
The wings are a typical 3-part construction. All detail is very clean incised panel lines and rivets.

Wings fit superbly with delicate trailing edges.

The interior was finished....I've left the seat belts in the colour of the lining/masking tape, ie red....gives it a dead racy look! Ideal for a Brazilian Spit...sorry, F-53D. Fuselage halves together, it just fits brilliantly. Tomorrow the sanding/smoothing of the seams....minor work only, and then I'll match the wings to the fuselage. If this goes easily, I may do more, but I'm off to see that Orlando Bloom Crusader thingy at the flicks tomorrow. Target for completion is Friday possibly, Saturday definitely. It all depends how much I become sidetracked on my day off, Thursday, as I've to visit a few friends.

The rice pudding was delicious.

I see a trend here, Monsieur Radishe!!!    :D

Geez, what IS your wife's number at work, anyhow?  I'm sure she can figure out the digicam!   :P  ^_^

light sanding/clean up of seams.....15 minutes.
"Dry-fitting" with minor sanding, 10 minutes, and the wings click into place.

If Thorvic wants to move this thread to another section, OK.
