Today I was outside and was getting ready to take a couple in-progress pictures of the new hanger and the UPS truck arrives and delivers my grass mats I ordered, I opened up the box and unrolled one of the mats and layed it over one of my photobase sections and took some pictures to see how this stuff will look when I make another photobase section.
I really like this stuff but it is very expensive, almost as much as the other kind of grass!

Here is the in-progress pic of the new hanger, it is not glued together yet I just taped it together for the pictures, the painting and final assembly will start Sunday.

Here are some pics of some older builds on the new grass...

Thanks very much Brian for that info about Scenic Express, they have a lot of things that I have been searching for including some decent looking trees.

That grass is beautiful! Be-yoooooooooooooo-ti-ful! I want some!

And is that a Nick? Classy! Show that to those "I-Hate-Your-Luftwaffe-Zero" dudes and gauge their reactions! When did you build that?

I'm really feeling the urge to seek out one of those hangars, too!

Ahh Matrixone a delight to see more pics from you. I'm so glad you found some grass you were happy with!

I just love that Japanese-to-Luft thing you do.

Great pics and love the hangar!

Now for the question we all have on our minds but I'll go out on a limb and ask- how well does the grass smoke up?

cthulhu77

Suuuuwheeeet !  That looks fantastic !

Thanks Zac, Brian, and Sentinel Chicken!

Zac,
The Japanese aircraft is a Dinah, I built this from the 1/72 scale Airfix kit and it was built stock except for the engines which are from an old Ju 188 kit.
The grass is from Scenic Express and is a very good product.

Sentinel Chicken,
This stuff is so expensive I don't dare even sample a puff of it!

cthulhu 77,
Thanks for the comments!

Not too much got done on the new hanger today but I feel very lucky the rain stayed away long enough to get some new pictures of the hanger and grass mats.

That grass looks terrific - especially in the b/w photos. Just shows how much we can pick up from railway modelers, especially on the scenic front

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Now all you need is one of those Hanomag aircraft tractor tugs dragging a lawn mower  :D

That grass looks excellent.

BTW, read a neat little tip in Military Modelling last month. Deer hair (which is available from Fishing shops apparantly) can be used to make long grass.

Thanks Chris, Thorvic, and nev!

The Scenic Express catalog has a lot of very interesting things in it that would be of great interest to anyone building a photobase or diorama.

Now that I have better looking grass for my photobase I need to improve my computer skills and make more realistic looking models and then I can start having some fun messing with some of the so called ''experts'' on other sites by making pictures of some whiffs that look as real as pictures of aircraft in the reference books.
