The Wooksta!

This is one of the fleet of Hunter T12s I'm working on, except this is the first finished one.  Basic Matchbox kit with the cockpit boxed in and a pair of Aeroclub seats (MB mk 3) and the relevant bulge on the nose (took a moulding from the first one I did).

This is the 16 Sqn aircraft trainer come hack, used as a display aircraft for the 1994 display season (I've already got a TSR2 in a similar scheme for 1990 as an anniversary aircraft which many of you have already seen).  Decals are from an Xtradecal Jaguar sheet, but the serial - which should be yellow - is from the Airfix Hunter.  I figured that the T12 (or rather T66) would be mainly rebuilt aircraft.

Lee, I am agog at how nicely that came out. I have the kit but I had intended to do it cammo simply becasue I didn't think with all the putty it would require a gloss paint job would be very nice. Amazing sir, and as usual, hats off.

Gorgeous, Lee.  Would it be possible to buy some examples of that nose bulge for use on some of my projects?

Thanks,
Evan

Very nice effort Lee

Went to an airshow recently and saw my first Hunter - lovely plane, had never liked it much before - the commentator kept on about the BLUE NOTE.

It made a lovely low pass at speed - my chest was vibrating with the noise. Heaven !

Wooksta,

If you don't have my address, Martin, Joe, and Thovic most definitely do have it.

Hehe, reckon you should sneak that one onto your local IPMS branch's table at your next show.  The RAF had that many Hunters scattered around, if you put it in amongst a sea of real planes, the vast majority of people would not know it was a whif.  Just the way you like it  B)

So what is the significance of the nose bulge?

Lovely black finish by the way.

QuoteYou could well be right, Nev.  How's the Revell one coming on?  Mine's stalled.
DSG has been painted, will get the green on this weekend.  Should get it finished by next weekend :)

Nothing to add to what the others have said.  Excellent detail, good fit - just needed a soupcon of filler here and there.  Regarding accuracy, well if the worst that can be found with the kit is that its wheels are fractionally too small, that is nothing thats gunna worry me.  I painted the cockpit and did all the main construction in one afternoon.

However, I did make a screw up with mine regarding the cannon bulges, so at Lees suggestion this one will get a coat of Halfords gloss black today  :D

Well I started to prepare one yesterday afternoon and the only thing that threw me for a bit were the blast deflectors for the guns, took me a while to figure out what they were. I'll be starting her this week after I've finished a couple on the bench, but she'll be a real one as will most of the early builds.
