TSR.2 gas passer

In the General Discussion section of the forum, I stated that when I do get my hands on an Airfix TSR.2, I might install an internal hose reel set up and have her as a tanker conversion.

In reply, I belive it was Wooksta who told me that there was a mockup done by BAC to investigate the feasibility of this concept before the TSR.2 was cancelled and that pictures survive of this mockup. Does anyone know if some of these pictures can be found on the net?

It was also suggested that I might simply swipe the "Buddy" refuelling pod from a Revell Tornado kit for this conversion, but I have a severe concern about this; the TSR.2 had a rather short wingspan for its length and the horizontal tail stabilizers sat a bit lower on the fuselage than the wings. would the hose from a wing mounted "Buddy" pod be able to safely clear the horizontal stabilizer or would the short wingspan create a safety issue there.

Personally  I would prefer to use the internal bay for a single, fully enclosed hose reel and mount either two or four standard drop tanks under the wings. Was there a specific drop tank designed for the TSR.2 at the time of cancellation or am I pretyy much free to "what if" that part?

Best bet is to touch base with TSRjoe, he's got lots of reference info I've not seen anyone else have.

yip the buddy refuelling system was built (at least in mockup form) as iv a series of pics showing its rigid pylon plus drogue deployment (similar to that fitted to the (F.105) ill see if i can add some pics to my TSR. ref site
