It never happened...but, oh...do I love the winter splinter on this little gem...an Airfix 72nd P-51 d/k :

The phrase "It never happened" has no place on THIS website: your idea is smashing!

I love the combination of the hard-edged splinter with that softer WWII German style camo on the fuselage sides.  How the heck DO you get that dotted appearance with an airbrush without carry-over or splatters to the next dot?

Fantastic work!

Coming from you, sir, that is very high praise indeed!!!  Thank you!

I use a Hansa 281 double action...the lines are so fine with that brush it is amazing...so all of that is just freehanded...(the dots, not the hard splinter, I used tape for that)

Glad you like it too...it has become, in the space of a day, one of my most favourite kits.

I love those uncommon colours too
In Sweden, that could be summer painting, and even in the US Alaska, or in the Aleutian Islands/Iceland involved in WW2 war. This P-51 is dreamy, possible, not crazy...

Decals and satin finish coat on now...time to dry and get put on a base :

Well, first I saved your latest photo on my HD.

Then I fell down.

I cannot believe this is in 1:72!

Absolutely artistic choice of colors and if you tell me you didn't worry about them and just used whatever you had laying around I will pass out again.

Good job, man!!

  it!

Thank you sir!  I actually have quite a collection of paint colours, but it did take some time to think about how the plane should look...Tophe is correct, this actually looks like more of a "springtime" camo.

Light euro gray, duck egg blue, raf interior green, olive drab, field drab, and dark euro gray were all used, sprayed without thinning at high pressure (my new favourite way to paint)  the usual insignia yellow, zinc chromate green, and chrome too.

  Really glad you like it...

I like very much the finished one too.
Do you call it J.27 like the Swedish Air Force did or have you a code of your own?

Love it. Man I do love CamoStangs, such a refresher from the BMF (don't get me wrong the P-51 is gorgeous any way it comes), and I've been known to be partial to angular schemes myself, but that one really is original. A perfect example of the creativity that goes on here, it really is a work of art

Intrigued by this no thinning painting process of yours and the airbrush you're using, tell us more.

I invite all and any criticism, except about Eric The Dog, it's not his fault he's stupid
