Well, at this hi-rez they don't look that good.
But, in person, they're actually okay.
Nightfighter pilots.

They look good.  I've been dabbling with 1/35 figures lately, and some warhammer 40k stuff.  It's the faces that always get me.  I haven't found a way of doing them without making it look hokey.

What scale are those?  1/72?  Magnifying glass indeed!

No way, these are 1:48!!!  I could never paint frames around goggles at 1:72 scale!!

I find the only drawback in otherwise well-painted 1:35 figures is the attempt to overdo the detailing, especially the eyes and faces in general.

Most of the 1:35 figures are so well-sculpted that I feel the facial shapes themselves carry sufficient, realistic shadowing, highlights, etc. without needing to embellish them (they end up looking like they're wearing make-up, to me).
