Following on from Bexy's RAF Intruder;

:tornado:

In 1987 the Canberra PR9 was retired from service after a series of crashes which was put down to airframe fatigue.In order to plug the gap left by the Canbera,the MoD decided to modify six ex-Royal Navy/RAF FGR6E Intruders to fill the role.Naming the aircraft the PR6.Overwing sidewinders were added for self defense,

Well here is the airframe given it's first coat of Hemp.I cut out the plastic behind the crew & was able to fit the Italeria cockpit.Sadly the canopy is too small for the Hasagawa kit crying.gif as I dont like the way they split the canopy.Today I have added the flare cans from the Italeria Jag & some aerils from the Nimrod R1.
I'm replacing the FLIR turret with the one from the Nimrod as it's much better.
Stores are;
Phimat pod,droptank,recon pod (from Jag kit)modified pod from A6 Prowler,ECM pod & 2 overwing sidewinders.

Underwing stores fitted & primed.Cant do much else until I get some more filler as the stuff I was using has gone off! :huh:
As for the 2 piece Hasegawa POS canopy,one side is larger than the other so It's gonna take a bleedin mirical to fit the barsteward! :banghead:
I have added the wing pod from the Airfix Nimrod under the WSO (or RSO in this case) under the Stbd intake,A ECM pod from a German Tornado & the pod from a A6 Prowler which I have modified by sticking a half of a droptank to each side.
I had a wild idea last night & that was to fit the rotodome from a 1/144 scale E3 to the kit as well,sort of an Recon/AWAC's A6 intruder...... :wacko:

Oh yeah, that hits the spot.  Love the "dramatic" photographs, too.  Whether you were going for that shadowy look or it just happened, it sure looks interesting.
Styrene in my blood and an impressive void in my cranium.

Im enjoying this one alot, I wish now Id done over wing winders instead of the Overburger Tanks, still, always time another RAF GRS6E in the future ;)  This is looking very good :bow:  Hey Merv, how do you fancy meeting up one day and getting photos of our two RAF Intruders together?

Merv,
Stick with the rotordome on the Prowler, your PR6 Intruder has enough to deal with  :thumbsup:   We'll aim for the Cosford show next year, our own table and all 3 RAF Intruder / Prowler together  :drink:
