I wouldn't normally bother anyone with this effort but I just wanted to share my astonishment that from opening the box on Friday lunchtime I ended up withj this by Sat tea time! I haven't done anything this fast since the days when I would slap the decals onto the bare plastic and play war  :D

It only qualifies as a what if by dint of the fact that Italian Sabres never carried Sidewinders (I think). Oh, that and the fact that the markings are from the Airfix G.91 that I didn't fancy building. The missiles and rails are from a Hawk 100 and the Pylons modified from a Eurofighter Typhoon that I wont be building 'cos I trod on the box and smashed the canopy! clumsy.

That Xtracrylics paint is bloody fast drying isn't it! five colours, two coats each  and done. Nice way top pass a day.

Looking good, Wierdo, whine-o, I mean, Wayno !

Is that one of those old Hasegawa kits ? There's something funnt about the nose/ canopy on those ones, just doesn't look right. I think the Fuji and HC ones look spot on.

Not sure if the Italians carried 'winders or not. Did they end up using the Dog as well ?

Great stuff....now how's about one in CDN markings ?

whats with the wierdo, whino stuff? You taking the piss?

No its not a Hasegawa kit, its actually Matchbox! Bearing that in mind, and the fact that the missiles are the only mod I was surpised how w
decent it looks and how well it went together.

I wanted to do a Canadian or Aussie one but didn't have the decals. I've actually got very few nowadays, I'm just starting up again after a couple of years off.

Sorry mate...I just made a typo, and then started giggling...and then Kurly got into it, and things got out of hand. Too tired, i guess.

PM me your mailing addy, and I can send off some CDN decals, I've got loads of spares, as I have a huge aftermarket collection as well as a dozen or so Hobbycrap Sabres.

Cheers !

I remember one of the mags doing a 'compare & contrast' article on all the then available F-86 kits.

The Matchbox kit was light years ahead in terms of accuracy of outline (it's a late 'A' model) than any of its rivals. Of course that was long before the Fujimi series.

Nice model Wayne, great isn't it when you get an uninterrupted run like that
