Here's the second pic. I know it's not exactly a "what-if" (unless you're a rivet-counting JMN who would notice all the imperfections) but I thought you folks would like to see what's been keeping me busy these days. Next in line is my Secret Santa build. Stay tuned!

This H-16 is so famous that... I had to ask Google to confirm this was not an invention of yours... And finding her, I... prefer yours, featuring better the peculiar wing shape, mostly, and having a cuter aspect, maybe due to wise viewing angles. It seems also the fin has colours (blue-white-red) while the wing roundels are black-white-black, what-if detail?
Very nice model anyway. More original than most flying boats. :)

That made me smile Tophe. Actually the wing roundels are the traditional type but they look different because I'm still figuring out this new camera. I painted the tailstripes in that order because all the tailstripes I've ever seen on U.S. aircraft with the inter-war star and meatball roundel are that way. I'm glad you enjoyed.

Do you mean the black/white/black roundels were traditional in the 1910s?  I thought they were allways blue/white/red... And it cannot be a camera problem as long as the colours can be seen on the fin while they cannot on the wing...
Till some explanation is given, I see those roundels as a nice what-if fantasy :D : a model whose rear part is painted in colours while the front part is painted to look like a black-&-white photograph  It would be nice on a diorama being half blue sea then half grey sea... Has this ever been made? ^_^ If someone tries it, there will be a Copyright fee for Brian... :P

Ahhh Tophe my friend you may well have hit on something there! I would always encourage you to view my imperfect builds however you wish. Actually the roundels are blue-white-red, but I somehow overexposed the shot. It looks like the upper wing took most of the light from the flash..figuring out this new camera is enough to drive one to drink, but the ideas of your wonderful imagination are a great tonic to ease the stress!

Are you serious???  1:144 scale?

Man, you are brave!!

Looks great.

Styrene in my blood and an impressive void in my cranium.

Oh... looking in the archives, I have found the photographic proof (below): this H-16 was actually half flying in a Black & White universe, this was not what-if at all... :(
I know you explained us the wing roundel was coloured on your model and the camera made it different, but maybe this magic camera was lended or programmed by a Realist JMN, turning your colourful dream back to sad Reality... Poor Brian. We hope you will succeed dominating this damned tool and show us coloured fantasy pictures :)
