K someone mentioned on another thread you could make profiles in MS paint.
How?
Specifically where are you getting the original plan drawings I can't seem to find any of the quality you guys use.
And where are you getting the marking , insignia etc and how do you transfer them to the drawing.
Here's a couple I tried out for fun but I've got no proper markings

Looks like you've already figured out that! Damn, that's some mighty fine work. Don't expect to get 'Jennings' style artwork out of paint, but what you've got is better than anything I've done, and I've been at it for a lot longer. Working with line drawings is easier, witness the ideas retro has been posting the past few days.

For getting things like national markings on, find some you like and then just cut and paste them into a blank area on your picture. Then, under all the tool styles etc. on the left of the screen you will see two little symbols that still make no real sense to me, but if the top one is hilighted then whatever you slide into place, including any blank selected area around it, will obscure any background detail. If you select the bottom symbol, then the background will still be visible as you paste, and you can position a little easier, erasing unwanted detail later.

As for now, keep experimenting, and make sure you post more here!

I used Paint for my retro-Tomcat. I started with a nice clean line drawing and went from there. I've scanned a bunch of 3-views from my collection of Squadron books and after I clean them up, I'll use them as the basis for more schemes. If worse comes to worse and the drawing is too dirty, I'll trace over it and then erase the old drawing underneath using Ultimate Paint. It has a feature to change all pixels of a certain color or range of colors to another chosen color, so I trace the drawing in a color that is far away from any shade in the original drawing, like red or even pink. Then I just copy it over to UP and get rid of anything close to the original color, giving me a clean bitmap drawing that I can color to my heart's content.
