G'day all.

March, 1945. A pilot of JG.43 in his Messerschmitt Bf.109G-10 crash-lands near Stockholm, escaping unhurt. Discovered by Swedish troops, he surrenders immediately - off for the Good Life in a POW camp near the border with Norway.

Technicians of the Svenska Aeroplans AB (SAAB) dissect the G-10 and re-build it with clipped wings and horizontal stabilizers, a re-shaped fin and, most radical of all, an example of the new Rolls-Royce "Chimera" inverted V12 engine, equivalent in horsepower to the Griffon 28. The aircraft, designated F.1 and nicknamed "Rödräv", after a species of fox.

The aircraft unfortunately remained a prototype, due to the problematic powerplant installation, and was used as an instructional airframe. It was scrapped in early 1957.

You guys like? B)

This used to be an OOB Revell 1/72 Bf109G-10, but later I made modifications so it was a post-war Nazi racer. Read the book "Fatherland" by Robert Harris? I thought it would fit in with that, like leading a Fuhrertag flyby or summat. Came up with the Rodvar just because I wanted to stick the Airfix 1/72 P-51D/K decals on something.

Not that far from the mark actually Zac, as SAAB did have a Me109 lookalike in development..... the SAAB L-23A

That's gotta be reality's highest compliment when she slaps you with an existing concept similar to your own "what if" idea!
Styrene in my blood and an impressive void in my cranium.

Well, you could say that the Rodrav is a prototype of the L-23 or testbed for the wing? ;)

That's really nice Zac and I think it inspired me on the markings choice for my crosskitting of a 109 and Avro 504. Excellent work!
