Thank you for the fine lesson B) . You've given me inspiration to take the step from the half assed attempt I made with a piece of construction paper to trying to do a better looking carrier deck like the pic I took on the Midway. ;)  :)

Leigh,
Your airfield and model(s) look great!

I tend to favor the ground level shots because most of the photos I have of the full size machines are photographed that way and I try to copy reality.
My photobase sections are wide enough (just barely) to take pics of the uppersurface of the model when needed.
The main reason I chose to do my base in sections instead of one large base is storage, it is easier for me to find room to keep them out of harms way when they are a smaller size, plus it is easy to move in and out of the house when I set things up for a photo shoot.

Have you thought about using backdrops made for model RR scenes?
My recent Me 209 and Me 309 pictures are done with store bought background scenery and they look excellent but are not that good for outdoor use.
One VERY important thing about backdrops that I have forgot to mention, you should secure the backdrop to keep the wind from knocking it over, last year one model was nearly destroyed when my backdrop was blown over by a breeze and fell on my photobase.

Big thanks to Leigh and Matrixone for all the great tips! I have been admiring photobases in other folks photos and have been contemplating giving it a try. I think you guys just saved me a few headaches :)

The weather is just getting close to cooperating with me for paint applications. I think I'm going to move this project a bit closer towards the front of my TO DO list.

I meant the airfield, not the buildings etc. I;d love to do a photobase when I got the time.

That Thud pic is beautiful! Looks like a publicity shot!

Leigh, thanks for your posts etc, this thread is an inspiration. Can I please borrow your base?
