Looks the the 10,000 business was complete caca del toro. What a surprise... <_<

That's traditional Airfix. If the plane is a solid colour for the scheme, then Airfix tends to mould the kit in the same colour. I think it harkens back to the days when kids brought the kits and there was no need to paint them.

Would have preferred a nice neutral grey myself... shows up surface flaws a lot easier.

Looks like you could do a thing or two with it.

Seriously, its a nice looking kit. If my eyes don't decieve me it looks like airfix actually made an attempt at intake trunking, one piece trunks at that! Think thats a new trick for them if I'm not mistaken, at least I don't recall it on any previous Airfix kit.

The higher production run is also encouraging as I did not manage to get an advanced order placed.

Clear Sprue shots.

Thanks to Mikeew on ARC for the link to this IPMS Germany first look. Good clear shots of the sprues and decal sheet. Nice detail on the instrument panel decals, they will look fine for closed canopy models.

I like the cameras in clear plastic and the detail on the exhaust cone even seems to extend to representation of the three hinges on the drag chute door!

Cheers

QuoteThe Resitech one and all it's fuzzy bunny children had those hinges too.  What concerns me more is the gap for some door just aft of the sidescan radar.  As far as I'm aware there isn't a panel or door there to open and it's too far forward for the nosegear.

Edit:  there is a door there on '220, having looked at some pics elsewhere on the web.

I'm not too sure about the bang seats either, although no doubt that'll be rectified by Aeroclub.

The, er, shape, appears to be a Red Beard rather than a WE177.

It does look gorgeous though!  Wonder what Jimmy Dell reckons to the Airfix representations of him and his navigator?

Be nice to think Bee and the other members of the TSR2 crew are looking down on this and smiling...
Hi Lee

That opening worried me as well, apparantly its because there is some detail on the underside that could not be moulded in situ without over complicating the mould. So to fix it they came up with a a seperate panel instead. (I just hope it fits better that the test shot one in SAMI !!!)

Those sprue shots do look good, i guess we may be a tad busy & distracted next month when we finally recieve them !!!!!!!. ;)

Cheers

Right heres a little true story from Hudderrsfeild.

I arrived first out of the 13 plus sig members that were in attendance today, and while on my way back to the car park to get the next load of gear for the sig display i was tapped on the shoulder by one Martin B of Heritage aviation. He said "ive got something to show you" and handed me a sainsburys carrier bag. In side was an Airfix TSR-2 with full instuction booklet and decals. but no box. He then says we can baby sit it for the day and drool. so I take it to my car and lock it in the boot for safe keeping. Then Thorvic and Narses arrive, and i call them over to my car and open the boot to show what ive got hold of, Geoff's first reaction is to question my parentage as he asks were i got it from. So I tell him it on loan and who from. so we again hide it and finish unloading the cars.

Brother Thorvic with the main fuss section.

By the time Heritage reclaimed it around lunch time, Myself, Thorvic, Narses, Wooksta, Lazlo woodbine, Geop P, Rodger the cabin boy and Howard of Effingham and numous other non webbased sig members have gazed apon and had a good feel of this wonderous model.

I always hope for the best.
