Nyah!Nyah!Nyah!

And for in case it gets nuked by the Airfix Forum admins.

"Hello all,

Regular/aged readers may remember me from the start of all this TSR 2 malarky. Now that the kit has been released and is selling out all over the place the time has come for me to say it:

To all those who said we were wasting our time, that no-one under the age of forty had even heard of the TSR 2, that it was a UK only interest type, that Airfix would never make it in a million years and, even if they did, they'd never sell more than 100 copies, to all those who cast aspersions on our motives and mental faculties/personalities, to those whose TSR 2 opposition became an obsession beyond mere plastic modelling, I say this:

I told you so.

Thank you and good night.

Simon"

Classic stuff and cheers

"PHOENIX OR FOLLY - The AIRFIX TSR.2  Story"[/i]

Starring Richard E Grant as "Lee Bagnall"

Richard Gambon as "Trevor Snowden"

Several other actors whom I'm unable to name as I;ve never seen photos of the other dudes......

"It began in the 60s.......and is now at its end. Some said it couldn;t be done. Others said 'I want my bleedin' model'. PHOENIX OR FOLLY - this spring on BBC2!"

Agreed Lee, and the full version of the modellers and SIG side of the story was posted on Hyperscale by me from details passed on to me and checked by Thorvic a few days back. I was not downplaying either side, merely linking to Mairfogs post on Airfix.com.

Read Simons post Lee. He isn't claiming glory, merely saying to all those who said that the kit was a bad idea and said it wouldn't be done(and apparently there were a lot) a big fat "Told you so".

You can play the subversive malcontent all you like but in the end there are a lot of people who have benefitted from the good work of you and many others in bringing this to fruition Lee and I certainly want to thank you and ALL involved.

So Thank You Wooksta and all those who made this happen through applied modelling and sheer bloody mindedness...

Cheers

Tony

Well...to Simon, the Artiste once known as Mairfrog,

It was long ago and far away...and so much better than it is today!

...Except that's a song and Meat didn't have a Big White Pointy Thing sticking out of his stash!

From 2003 and the Year of the Box and a Trev Thumbs-Up, through abuse, ridicule and more abuse, from resin stand-ins and corporate cock-ups, to the joy, at long last, of a decent, injection-moulded BAC TSR2!

It is probably for the best that the archives from the old Airfix site became mysteriously corrupted, otherwise, much gloatings may be had at the naysayers expense. There was almost as much passion in putting down the campaign, as there was for it...almost!

So Nice one,  Mate! Smug Slugs of the world unite!  :)

Ol' Thorvic often reminds me that the Campaign for the Airfix TSR2 ran long before Simon, Ed and others joined the fray. The repeated displays of fine birds undoubtedly laid very solid foundations and kept the interest alive and growing.
Such work clearly influenced Airfix, as it was to yourselves that they turned for the expertise necessary to create such an excellent kit.

So nice one to all your good selves here at this fine establishment.

I'd attended IPMS(UK) before, but the impact and perceived change in the Airfix interest was very palpable, that November of 2003.
It had always been a dream of Our Trev's and he was more than willing to pose, thumbs up, in front of the massed TSR2's of the What-If? SIG stand. He has told me that the huge interest that year did have a large influence on the Airfix bean counters, (although not so strong an influence on the likes of Steve Lord).

My one regret at the 2003 show was the apparently damaging effect the stunt had had on Heritage...though I eased my conscience, somewhat, by buying a copy of their nice resin TSR2.   :dum:

PS In the forthcoming film, Robbie Coltrane as Thorvic? ^_^

!"
Surely Ross Noble? He can even do the accent!

It's not an effing  jump jet.

Has anybody tipped off the national press about how well this is selling?

Saw Dennis Healy on Andrew Marr's show yesterday - kept waiting for Andrew to produce a TSR2 kit!
It's not an effing  jump jet.

QuoteYou can fcuk off with the suggestion as Ross Noble to play me - he's a mackem!

Leigh

Can I be played by Sigourney Weaver?
I know I had nothing to do with this but a bit of eye candy never goes amiss.

I love this, this is absolute magic a grass roots movement and the corporate hacks finally give the people something they want, and not what they are "told" they want. To everbody who had a part in this and never gave up, thank you! This is affirmation that things do go right in the world, and inspiration to continue these actions. Who's next on the hit list the M.O.D. and their royalties?

To me these are the big deals and I love it when the good guys win.

I invite all and any criticism, except about Eric The Dog, it's not his fault he's stupid
