One of the worst kits I ever built!

Here are two pics of the PM Ta 154 I built way back in 1988, a LOT of putty was needed to build this model.
The propellers you see on this model are from an Airfix Dinah and not from the original kit, my Luftwaffe Dinah has the PM props on it right now.

Another model not seen before, the 1/48 scale Hasegawa Mc 205 in ''real'' a/c paint and markings...I wanted to show that I DO build models without German markings on rare occasions.

Heres a new pic of an old model...check out the new trees on the left side of the pic, better than what I used to have on my photobase but not as good as I had hoped they would be.

Maybe the basis was the worst you had to handle, but if the result you got were in my own model collection, this would be the best model of all. Congratulations for your performance... :)

Hi Matrix,

i know....

putty shares went up all over the world when i made that kit.

Wow another treat! Thank you Matrixone! You did an excellent job on what sounds like an incredibly difficult project. My hat's off to you. I can't tell there's gobs of putty on it. I like your new trees and that Italian job too, even if it is RSI.

The "smoke ring" mottling on that 205 is stunning Matrix

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Thank you Tophe, Allan, Brian, and Chris!

When PM released that Ta 154 kit back in the late 1980s I was thrilled but when I bought the kit and tried to build it but I was quite unhappy after the third go round of filling and sanding, if I only could have known ProModeler would produce a larger (and far better!) kit of this a/c I never would have finished this model and moved on to something else. One good thing the PM Ta 154 has going for it is the nose high ''sit'' of the a/c, the ProModeler kit if built OOB the nose is level with the ground which would be O.K. if you were building the first prototype but not so good if you were building later versions.

Chris,
That camouflage on the Mc 205 was a little tricky to do, the most important thing when doing the smoke ring camouflage pattern is having the paint thinned correctly and using the right amount of air pressure.
I built this model as practice to prepare myself for building two of these kits for a client, I don't have any pictures of those two models but they were the best models I have ever built. If I build another Mc 205 I will NOT be using the kit decals, the white areas of the Hasegawa decals are not really white and are almost a cream color.

My new hanger is finished and I have some new pictures that I will post later today.

Question: is this a rocket exhaust below the jet exhaust? Nice!

Thanks Wooksta!

I sure hope Revell of Germany will release more of these Flitzer kits soon, it was a fun kit to build but I did fumble around with the twin tail booms until the glue started to dry. The kits decals were bogus and I only used the stencils, the national markings and aircraft number are from other decal sheets.

Tophe,
Yes that is a rocket exhaust, the Germans wanted a quick response fighter to intercept the bomber streams. The Me 163 had a great rate of climb but too short of a range to be a very effective bomber killer. The Flitzer also would have a good climb rate but have enough endurance to destroy some bombers AND be able to attack or outrun the escort fighters. Once the fuel of the Me 163 was exhausted it was an easy kill for the fighter escorts.

Later today I plan on posting pics of my new hanger and will have better pictures of the Flitzer included.

Hey Matrixone love the pics.

Have to say that the photos that you are doing lately are looking so good like the Wooksta says it is hard to tell if they are real or not.

The Flitzer from revell is a top little kit that I have yet to build. I managed to get the Aber etched brass set for it so that when I do build it I can go to town.

Keep em coming.

Get this Cheese to sick bay!

Thanks Sisko!

You will LOVE building that kit, the only weak area is the decals.

Today I am posting pics of my finished hanger and there are a couple of those pics that have the Flitzer in them and they turned out O.K.

Count me in as a smoke rings fan too - that's some great work there!!!

Thanks Rotorhead!

I use a Badger 150 with the fine needle and head assembly and Model Master enamels, I have had much success using this combination.
