While working on the ME-274 Thought all was going well until .....
Back up here , now I've used this method before with good results, used a sharpie marker on the panel lines on the bare plastic, coupla coats of primer, three colours of Misterkit acrylics, and a pastel wash. Looking great till I threw on a coat of Testors dullcoat out of the can and I could literally watch these bright purple lines from the sharpie come through the paint bold as brass. AAARRGGGH.
Managed to salvage it dunno how but I'll never do that again.

I invite all and any criticism, except about Eric The Dog, it's not his fault he's stupid

Ouch! I did that too. I tried pre-wiping with a wet cloth, also sanding off affected areas and starting over... no use.

At least everything worked out... you did end up with a kickass looking plane!

Yeah, the ink base in sharpie's does have a rather strong reaction, doesn't it???  too bad, also, as it would be such an easy way to do panel lines....

I use a mechanical pencil or rollerball gel pens for panel lines, and pentel art brush-pens for shading and panels.  Haven't bothered with dullcoat in a long time; depending on the finish I spray Krylon matte finish, satin finish, or triple glaze clearcoat.

So far I'm experimenting with doing tarnished metal(like on jet exhausts) with sharpied panel lines sprayed over with laquer. So far good results, comes out just black in color for me, no cool blues.
