Hey Geoff,
    I've got loads of RCN refs. I just got a hold of a set of 'in RCN Service' monographs, which cover the Seafire, Firefly, Sea Fury, Avenger and one of  all them....including the nicest Avro Ansons and Swordfish ever...all over silver with solid blue red leafed roundels ! Sweeeet !!
    As for the fin flash, all the fighters carried the standard British one till they were retired....the only two a/c ( as far as I know ! ) to have any variation were the onlt two to survive into the mid sixties...the Sea King and the Tracker. The Tracker wore the RCN ( as per RN ) ensign on the tail for a brief period, starting in '64 I believe. Then in '66, they switched to the CDN flag.
    The Sea Thing had a little CDN flag on the sponson.......
