I used the Tynes from the Revell Br1150 Atlantic kit on a B-29, outer engines. They work.

I don't think I have heard of a Super Star Constellation, but I have seen a pic from the old Discovery Channel "Wings" docus, one of which covered the Connie, of an AWACS version of the Starliner. About all that resembles the Starliner are the wings. The fuselage looks like a cross between a Connie and Electra or Orion as well as the Allison engine and prop combo from the latter with 2 huge tail fins/rudders and an E-3 dish installation. A video of the program is on YouTube and IIRC, the pics of this model are toward the very end.

The Super Star was the original name for the Starliner.

The Airfix Super Constellation could be Whiffed into a bomber or maritime strike aircraft by cutting out a forward and rear weapons bays in the fuselage sections, fore and aft of the wings. The bomb bay walls made of plastic card. There's plenty of photoetch kits to choose from.

The KC-121 could use the refueling parts from the Academy KC-97G/L or B-29P kits.Both versions of inflight refueling were tried out- hose & drogue or boom.

Still investigating on the floatplane and seaplane versions. Floats are a problem, but the smaller Grumman seaplanes seem to be the ideal size.
The PB2Y Coronado might be a possiblity for a donor.

I think a B-29/B-50 kitbash could be achieved. The Connie with a single tail fin. Might have been discussed before.
I did tinker on one of the Heller kits. By cutting the section behind the cockpit and a section aft of the wings and gluing them the other way around to create a shoulder mounted wing. The next step is to cut the wing section so the landing gear points downwards.
Kit suggests the Stirling or Vulcan landing gear as they are the longest.

I'll let you know how I get along with this Whiff, as soon as I get settled in somewhere where there's no bugs biting me.

I put 1/24 Spitfire floats on my Avro Nottingham project (based on a Shackleton) and the Connie is bigger and heavier than a Shackleton, I don't think the Beaver floats are anywhere near big enough ---

Been trying to source possible hulls from existing kits. The Dornier Do 26.
