Question about the camera fit

Reading the WAPJ WOF article, it states that the aircraft was to be fitted with 3 strike cameras in the nose/forward fuselage.  These don't seem to be depicited in the kit - is this because the prototype lacked the camera fit, or did the cameras have retractable covers?

Interested to know where they should be, as obviously an in-service bird should have the strike cameras.

Oh, and what are the rectangular holes in the main gear doors for?

the TSR.2 strike cameras were fitted behind square sliding flush shut doors, one each on the fuselage side mounted on the triangular'ish shaped panel just in front of the avionics bay for the oblique view cameras, the third (as also noted by Geoff)was mounted beneath the fuselage giving a path overlap (the small square on the seperate panel on the Airfix kit)

an example of the production configuration oblique camera door still survives, its spring loaded catch still working. Examples of the cameras developed for the type were once on display at the small photography display at Cosford but i think theyre back in storage due to the new 'chilly war' hanger!

hoping this helps, cheers, joe
