AS many of you know I have a "thing" about collecting old box art. I picked this up last week and think the weapons load on this old T.streak is a "what if " just toooo good  not to share. :dum:

Even better : that's not a whatif! This huge load of rockets was tested in Eglin AFB in 1951. I saw a photo of it in le Fana de l'aviation. I remember something like 32 rockets FFAR.
Quite obvioulsy the induced drag was enormous and none F-84 was ever fitted like that in operation.
I have to check that on the web.

French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

Wow, that pilot has some serious cajones...going wheels up only feet off the ground, with a full store. Yipes.

Great pic,thanks.....I think the 500 pounders(?????) on the center line may just have been the straw that broke the camels back.
Whatched Tstreaks as a youth taking off at Burtonwood ( ex B36 base) and just with the usual tanks on ,had a very, very ,very long take of roll. :o  :o

Allan, the bomb-like shapes on the fuselage are supposed to represent the RATO units.  The RATO units were attached to the underside of the fuselage in that arrangement on the Monogram F-84 Thunderstreak kit which provides them in the one version that had the Mk7 nuclear store.

Guess your right....Im looking at the kit parts and they look like the Thunderjet RATO units with no fins ( unless these ARE the Tjet units  )

THe box art has no clouds of smoke and stuff,so I will use that as my excuse for not thinking about the ratos/jatos.

Still a nice bit of box art nostalgia though.
