For those who are interested in this kind of advanced modelling (looks at JHM & Greg) there is the first in a series of articles in this months Military Modelling - its the one with the awesome Jumbo Sherman diorama on the cover.

.There's also an article on WW2 Canadian Army camo schemes  - not sure if there's much intrest in canuck modelling round here though ;)

Its a really good mag - it has real variety of subjects and themes.  This months issue has articles on

New Dragon 1/35 Sdkfz.234
Figure sculpting/moulding
70mm Pegaso Germanic barbarian warrior
1/72 Mirage M3A3 Stuart (by regular contributor Steve Zaloga)
Sahariana armoured car in Italian service
awesome diorama of Jumbo Sherman
Canadian camoflage in WW2
Part 4 of a history of the British Nile campaign of 1882
Reports on the MAFVA nationals & Tankfest at Bovington

Plus the usual book & kit reviews (many by Cookie Sewell), and there's also a monthly section on 1/72 & 1/76 kits, which is great.

Every issue has a really good selection of articles - different scales, subjects, manufacturers, figures, reference, "how to" etc.

It would be very easy to produce a mag like AFV Modellers, which is little more than a showcase for 1/35 Tamiya & Dragon Panzers  <_< .  MM goes out of its way to avoid this, and I like it.

One of the mags I still get on a regular basis - particularly like "Small scale scene"

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

:D    nice one Nev, AFV Modeller, and the various Tamiya offshoots are seemingly full of pictures of lovely German WWII (covered in chipped paint! arggghh!) models with half a ton of photo etch & resin thrown at them for no reason, very rarely do they actually seem to mention anything about the real vehicles.

I'm sure that's where we get the general military modeller thinking that Panther tanks were the best thing since sliced bread from... 'well they must have been great cause Tamiya & Dragon make loads of lovely kits of them...'

now I'm all for looking at some nice models but these mags don't seem to tell you anything...

rant mode off  ;)
