Suppose Germany had to make reparations in a greater context than was required and had to keep open a few aircraft factories for some state-run and private firefighting operations.

He-177
BV-222
FW-200 or is she too lightly built?

Are these reasonable conversions that could be found in Canada and Greybull, Wyo?

I think the Condor would be a little flimsy, but I can sure see the He-177/277 and Bv-222 being used. I can also picture a gorgeous yellow Do-26 scooping...

Poor planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part...

The He177's engines had a nasty habit of blowing up. Personally I'd go with the 277's layout. In that layout, I think it'd make a reasonable firebomber. Hey it could launch retardent filled Hs293 missiles straight into the heart of the fire. The Bv222, let's see, land scoop up half a small lake, take off dump lake on fire, fire goes out to be replaced by flooding.   :o  :o  :o  B)  :P

Some years ago I was working in a He-177 conversion into an airliner. Its square fuselage allows to be deepened quite easy. The problem with engines: you can modify them is some way, even convert them to turboprops, I like those big four bladed propelers , and then you can say they are different engines not so prone to be in fire. Will die without understanding this world.

Actually I think an HE-111 could work here.

Its got the full glazed nose for excellent visibility and I think it could be easily converted to a turboprop. A ventral tank should also be easy enough to slap in.

Dornier loved that Pushmepullu thing didn't they!   A Do-26....is there a kit of it anywhere?   The Do-18 has been kitted by Huma and the Do-24 to me looks like a flying salamander  but the -26 is rather good looking.

So....since the BV-222 would take up so much water, would a fire then be considered simply a large fish fry?   B)

And *another* use for the He-111!  I've already got one slated as a ''press corps'' aircraft for this air race in Europe that never existed.   Guess I'll have to order a couple of Hasegawa kits in from Hong Kong next time around.

Mach 2 did  a kit of the Do-26 i think.

ref the he-117. U could always go the way the Luftweafee wanted em to build em, with  4 radials not the coupled deisels.
I always hope for the best.
Unfortunately,
experience has taught me to expect the worst.

Spanish would be great!  No need for these to be on the American continent.

Are there any referances online for a 4-engined -177?

Forget the Firebomber part but the idea of a turbo-prop He-111 is great.

Depends how much info you are after - there were 2 variants:  The He-274 and the He-277.  If you search for references to either of these you should find something.

Thanks, Greg.

And,  :dum: , the Sunderland mentioned above is simply out of place.......
