Does anyone happen to know the length, height, and weight of the Russian Mikulin AM-35 engine, as found in the MiG-1/-3 and Il-2? I'm looking to build a couple of re-eingined MiG-3s, one during the war to make it a better fighter, and another as a post-war air racer. I'm weighing my options(quite literally), and I haven't been able to find these specs anywhere. Thanks in advance.

I have weights from "Russian Piston Aero Engines" by Kotelnikov...unfortunately he did not include external dimensions.

The Mig-1 and 3 used the AM-35A, the Il-2 used the AM-38 and AM-38F.

AM-35A: 830kg(1,830 lb)

AM-38: 860kg(1,896 lb)

AM-38F: 880kg(1,940 lb)

EDIT: Found more info on the AM-38F

Basic technical specifications of Mikulin AM-38F:
bore: 154 mm
strike: 160 mm
total volume of cylinders: 46,66 l
compression ratio: 6,0
length x height x width: 2303 mm(90.66")x 1050(41.33") mm x 762-845 mm(30-33.12")
dry weight: 880 kg
rpm:    2350
performance: 1742 hp (1282 kW)

From  this site:
AM-38F

Its a bit bigger than a two-stage Merlin (88.7"l X 40"h X 30.7"w) and weighs about 40 lbs less than a Griffon.

Cheers, Jon
