QuoteI just up this thread in order to say that I planed to start the build of a A-37B for the Delta Force, circa 1990's... It will have a scheme very similar to the Chinook on first page of this thread.

I'll probably creat a in-progress topic in the other forum ;)
Oh please, do it :)
King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

Before starting the building, I have to choose some little stuff.

For example, the scheme of the plane, which will depend on the backstory:

Desert Scheme - Afghanistan
In 2002, in a derivative world where the Delta Force is an entity wich regroup all the Special Ops units we know in our world...
There is the US Army, US Marines Corps, US Navy and now the US Delta Force, with maritime, land and air units in it...

1) A scheme like the one on the Chinook page 1 of the topic: all black under the plane, sand with "hand painted" black strips on the top of the plane

2) A derivative of this scheme: light grey for the intrados, sand and black hand painted strips for the extrados.

3) A derivative of the last one: light grey under the plane, all sand with brown hand painted strips on the top of the plane

"Jungle-ised" scheme - North Korea Crisis
In 2006, North Korea succeeded in launching 9 test ICBMs over Japan and near the coast of Hawaï and Alaska...
In the same time, they exploded two nuclear weapons in underground nuclear tests...
The year 2007 was really intense for the whole world, the confrontation between North Korea and South Korea+Japan turning into a fast little Cold War!!
And finally, the war start in 2008...

In this situation, a lot of US units were send in emergency from Afghanistan, Irak and Syria to South Korea, including twelve units of the US Delta Force...

1) A sand camo with hand painted olive green strips, with an intrados in light grey

2) A sand camo with hand painted olive green and brown strips allover the plane...

What do you think about it? Wich one do you prefer??

Found this and thought it applied.

QuoteSurely any activities the Delta Force undertake have to be sanctioned by the US government and use equipment bearing recognised us insignia.
Nope. Check out photos of the U2 and its successors, most fly with an overall black scheme, a code number, and no national insignia whatsoever. I remember searching for markings on the ones I ground-crewed for at YYZ when they came in for the airshow, and had no luck at all.

Most of the pilots aren't USAF either, they're CIA.  ;)

A lot of it comes down to 'plausible deniability' again, ie, "if you think I'm lying, prove it".  Often Special Forces Units are 'given the nod' on an operation by politicians, with no official sanctioning.  This allows the policians to completley deny it ever happened, or if worst comes to the worst, blame the unit itself for acting outside the knowledge of the government, with lots of very public huffing & puffing.
Not SF, but look at Irangate, Col North took most of the flak in what was almost certainly sanctioned much higher.

Pollux, found some Delta Force patches for you:

I think the one on the left is more likely.  The one on the right is being sold on a few military memrobilia sites but It just seems like a re-jigged SF patch with the word 'Delta' on, probably just someone trying to sell a few spares.

You're brave taking on that Chinook scheme Pollux!  That's going to take a lot of work.  I'm pretty sure that it was orignial intended as a night scheme (Special Forces like the dark!) so I would go with one of the schemes with the black stripes.  Saying that, you're other ideas might work well as a disruptive camouflage.  Try experimenting on a few spare scraps of styrene, see what it looks like.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

I got the DeltaForce 1, 2, 3 and 4 video games, and i play the latter 2 online sometimes.

just to let you know, in single player, they operate UH-60's, Predator UAV's and F/A-18 for CAS. there was also one mission with a C-130 i think.

i think those aircraft would be the most suitable for the DFAC, as those are the main types used  B)

Thank you guys for your answer and pictures ;)

For the moment, I still don't chose the camo... I think I will try different scheme on an old model, in order to see which one looks better!

As for the DFAC, I have to describe its abilities...

For the moment, I think about different planes for them:

1990's
-OV-10 Bronco
-A-37C/D Dragonfly
-UH-60 Blackhawk
-OH-6 Little Bird
-C-130
-AH-1 Cobra
And maybe some USMC F/A-18 units in support

2010's
-OA-10C Warthog
-OA-37F Dragonlady
-MH-60 Blackhawk
-Light Helicopter (don't know yet what it'll be, some light Eurocopter or Defender family helicopter maybe)
-C-130J
-AH-1Z Super Cobra
-AV-22 Osprey
-F/A-18H Hornet (a dedicate variant of the F/A-18D)

And well, I think that for the markings I will try to use some home made decals, hopping I will succeed in printing them...
