OK, I had this Do-217 Nightfighter, Airfix and Airmodel conversion, had it for years. I was looking for something to 'butcher', saw 'it' and thought, why not!
Now, the engines were gone, and one tailplane, lost and it looked hopeless. When I made the SE 100, I modified wings from an Airfix Hudson, so the tailplane from the Hudson was added, after cutting away a trough and glued in place. Used the lower tails from the Lockheed, but both tails from the 217, above. Filling in the join slot, and sanding the tail base flat, glued to the tailplane, to make them higher.
This was stage 1, what do you think I did next?

Well, it's now changed to 1/48 scale. Fared both sides of where the tailwheel is, cut off the nose and added a Hasagawa Dauntless cowling, first removing where the new cockpit will go. Where the engines were, now had M/G housings, forward weapons, made from Airfix P-38 engine cowls, glued upside down. Once the cockpit canopy is on, you'll work it out, but that will be a while yet!

That's my kind of conversion, baby!!!
Styrene in my blood and an impressive void in my cranium.

OK, the engine is in place as is the cockpit. The cockpit was based 'loosely' around a 1/48 Lysander, ie: front seat, radio and rear seat. Now, front seat, housing for the wing spar, and rear seat. I hadn't added the M/G in the rear, at this stage, next time.

Ooooooh, I like where this is going.............GO GLENN GO!

Everything done less a canopy, rear gunner, paint and decals.

OH, by the way, it's pre-war (as if you hadn't guessed!)
