In the late 80's, the English Electric P.8 Thunder was aeging. After the collapse of the Typhoon program, and the licence-building of Avenger II to replace the Tornado, BAe launched a join program with Northrop to produce the YF-23 for the RAF.
In service the plane was named Guardian F.1 and entered service at Binbrook in 1996...

King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

Woww!!!
Beautiful work for one of my favourite plane ever!!!

Just few questions:

-What model is it? (if it's Heller 1/72, I'll have some question to send to you my PM!  :P )
-Where did you get it? Personnaly, I can't find any 1/72 YF-23 in Lyon!!
-Last question: where are the decals from?? I particulary enjoy the "Guardian" mark ;)

It was a long time ago (this is just an old model re-painted). Maybe I still have the notice (de montage, re-zut pour l'anglais), I'll tell you a soon as possible!
I just can't remember where and when I bought it sorry!
I thinks it's Italeri, but I'm not sure...

The word "guardian" come from Mach2 Falcon 20 (one of the few bizjet available in 1/72 scale).
I don't remember Heller making a YF-23 (just a crap YF-22).
Glad you enjoy it! Et cet O  A-37 ? ;)

I thought that Heller did a YF-23, but now I"m not so sure...

And for my OA-37, I bought a new brush, new acrylic matte varnish last week, and it will wait until next week (examinations on university this week) ;)
So, painting is for soon, then the weapon added and, when I can have my jet printer back, the decals ;)

Italeri do a YF-23 kit (no. 191) which I have.

Dragon make a different one going by an online review with sprue pictures. It also looks much simpler but is no longer made.

Markings are pretty much the same in both cases.

Dragon's kit is a major No-No, try looking at the reviews and compair them to the Italeri/Testors kit.

The Dragon kit wasn't that bad to build.  I built it before I got my hands on the Testor's/Italeri one, and was actually disappointed that the Testor's tail surfaces didn't move.  Of course, this was back when I was trying to do "good" jobs on models, and trying to build them like they looked on the box....

Mine is probably the Italeri/Testor, made at the period you describe so well, Anthony

Very nice, Archie! I particularly like the red stripes on the tailfeathers. They somehow bring the whole build together for me. B)
