Great minds think alike....I started this project in September. As I've always loved the 1936 movie, "Things to Come", one day I had to make the small tailless aircraft.
Construction is...fuselage modified from an Airfix 1/72 P-38 with the wings in balsa, so far. The more I see it, the more it reminds me of a Westland Hill. As this photo is the first stage, (construction is now finished) I hadn't used any more 'kit' parts.
The one thing that worries me most, in the overall colour scheme, and markings, any ideas? Black and yellow/white
Oh yea, I've worked out the scale now to be, 1/60

Wow Glenn I think you're absolutely spot on with this build! I've seen that movie countless times and I think you've really captured the look of the Bolide! It's hard to determine colors from black & white film, but the Bolide appears to be dark blue with white code markings and stripes (it seems to be a lighter shade than John Cabal's black flight suit). The codes, on the wings, nose and wingtip rudders are WT 34. There are a series of five thin stripes going from the nose codes back and on the top and bottom of the rudders. The prop spinner and blades are metallic.

I have plans to build one of the "Gas of Peace" bombers in 1/144 but I've had no luck tracking down any decent stills or three-view drawings. Looks like I'm just gonna have to watch the movie a bunch more times to get the info I need.

Best of luck on your Bolide, Glenn! I'm really looking forward to seeing how it turns out!
