Well it seems I am getting a new airbrush for Xmas from my sweetie, and was told to go pick one out.

Well I have it narrowed down to 2 airbrushes, they are both exactly the same, the only difference is one has a 0.3mm needle and head, and the other for $10 more has a 0.2mm needle and head.

Is there really that much difference between the 2, I mean I know I am going to get some really fine lines with the 0.3mm, but I also know they will be even better with the 0.2mm, however the 0.3mm has the potential to spray more wider areas when fully opened up.

Anyone that has some experiance between the 2, I would really like some input on these.

Both of these airbrushes are the Mr. Hobby airbrushes, modeled after the Iwata High-line series with the MAC valve on them, just one is the .3mm and one is the .2mm, and having a hard time deciding on which. I don't build much WWII stuff, either aircraft or armor, to the wild squiggly camo patterns of the German and Italian aircraft I will probably never do, however I still want to be able to do fairly thin lines for possible panel shading, and some weathering effects, but nothing too serious.

As always, any help, you guys can give me is much appreciated!!
Thanks

Can't you get one airbrush with both needles? On my airbrush, the needles are interchangeable.

I use a .2 and a .4 on my H&S. I think a .3 would be adequate for just about anything unless you're doing some outlandish WW2 Regia Aeronautica cammo in 1/72.

The thin needle is designed for ink use rather than heavier-bodied paint.    Although the fine needle can work, it requires much much more thinning which is desirable in few situations from our perspective.

What a great gift!
