The Wooksta!

The Revell blue box Sea Vixen is the Frog one, the black box one is the Dragon kit.  IIRC the only things really wrong with it are the nosecone, which is too short, the naca intakes are the wrong way round and the bang seats are underscale, being more suitable for Hitler Youth pilots.

Canberra Navs had the same problems, but the early bomber version's crews had a mate to chat too as well as they sat behind the pilot. The PR9's Nav was stuck in the 'Coal Hole' right in the nose of the aircraft.

It was actually quite light and airy in the B2/B6 nav's back office, the T4 slightly less so.
The PR9 nav's coal hole really was a coal hole, probably more so than the B(I)8 nav's position.

Is there any truth in the story that if a Vixen pilot wasn't listening to his navigator, the nav sitting down the coal-hole would belt his pilot's ankles with his plotting ruler?

A few Sea Vixen pics I took at Solent Sky earlier today.

A Red Top hung under the starboard wing, and......

A Firesteak under the port one. I'm not sure if they could actually do that at the same time, and neither could the guys at the museum tell me either. The bump on the wing LE right above the missile is where the IFR probe plugs in when it's fitted.

De Havilland did a pretty poor PSR job when they converted the FAW1s to FAW2s....

I didn't even know a Sea Vixen had a RAT, but there it is for all to see.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

I'm thinking along lines of  fixed, rather than folding wings, wing tip tanks and , an additional pylon under the outer wing for a MER/TER.
Being fundamentally lazy, Im not going to attempt a tandem seat arrangement but, I reckon side by side seating a la Hunter, JP etc would be an easier solution.

Which is what the early dH110 drawings looked like.

It depending on which kit you're using, the Frog kit is decent enough for our purposes.  The outer wings are a bit too thick, so the lower section needs a good sanding to get it thinner, as when the outer wings go on there's a nasty step which is nigh on impossible to get rid of.  Ask me how I know...

Good website, that sheds some detail on the reasons for the Sea Vixen's high accident rate:
