 Wonderful... Sorry I cannot say "beautiful", cause the P-40 nose is ugly :(  according to me with its big scoop, but this is a wonderful addition :)  to the Mustang family. Thanks!

I actually had to have a second look.

I saw it but It did not register until I saw the tail!

QuoteYeah, but with a cleaner installation and not as good a scoop and radiator installation.  NAA did a ton of clean-up when they did the redesign for the Merlin installation.
I believe that Curtiss did some research into drag reduction, and were quite miffed with North American when the Mustang was rolled out, to the point of feeling ripped off. In the back of my memory (from a modelling book about the Mustang, Bert Kinzey????) I think the Brits asked Curtis to provide data to North American to expedite the Mustang design.

Happy to be corrected.

Finally, a very sweet model. Bravo!
From what I've read, the Curtiss data, primarily for their P-46 effort, merely substatiated what Kindleberger and Schmued (sp?) had already determined.  As I remember, detailed books on the Mustang document that the data came well after the detail design of the Mustang was well in hand.  Mind you, they didn't get everything right the first time, the refinements of the radiator scoop and radiator installation in the P-51B adn subsequent models is proof of that.  Mind you, I most definitely feel that the redesign for use of the Merlin did incorporaate a great deal of well-thought-out design to ease manufacturing.

Threw me for a bit - a real double take - terrific
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Outstanding!  So believable even though different.

True Whiffery of the highest order.

Thank you very much for sharing.

Now, do you have any "in-progress" pics so the rest of us can learn a bit about how you morphed the two dissimilar models together?

I sorry but it is not going to be able to be. My photo camera was damaged during the construction . The next time I promise put the construction step by step.

Lo siento pero no va a poder ser. La camara estuvo averiada durante la construccion del "engendro". Lo siento la proxima vez prometo poner paso a paso la construccion.

Merry Christmas from Spain.

I have tried to see on side views how this brilliant mix P-51/P-40 had been done, and it appeared not simple at all... Heights do not match. Was putty enough to fill and adapt? Or what is the secret?
