I always love those action shots! Nice choice for a build too :)

You guys, I feel so proud reading your replies, I really am chuffed.

In-depth backstory? It's the only way to go!

Air-to-air pictures? All the best magazine articles are full of A2A shots!

Modeling Madness and ARC? Very very tempted.....

I, well, I wish I had some stronger words to convey my thanks. You guys are just plain BRILLLLLIAAAAAAAAAAAAAANT! :P  ^_^

BTW I thought you might like a selection of in-progress shots as well as a coupla "ha-ha-I'm-all-done-aren't-I-clever" ones too.

Enjoy!

I forget what these used to be, but I sanded them into blisters for the four 20mm Hispanos under the nose.

The airframe all done. This was at the old place, and it was my very last shot taken before packing it up. We left our builds til last!

My first experience using masking tape. Tamiya, I love you! Lana bought the Yellow God Roll online for her "Funky Chicken" racer, but I decided to borrow some for the ID stripes and rear fuse band. The result? I'll never, EVER freehand stripes again!

EE563/ZK-HRG at rest. I was attempting to take a photo with my figure of "Sqn.Ldr. Henry Rawiri DFC" in front, but no matter what, he came out blurry but the Ghost was crystal clear. Tips?

The model with "Rawiri's parents". This is a portrait on a shelf behind the modelling desk. I think it's of my sister's boyfriend's great-grandparents.

Once more, thank you all so very, very much for your kind words. I am very proud of the finish on this bird and how she looks. SHE'S GORGEOUS!

Humble? Always! ;)

That's an absolutely wizzard build, mate!

Had a bit of an incident at Woodbourne today, I'm okay but I can't say the same for HRG:

During rollout after a 30min flight this lovely clear morning (which was totally fantastic, BTW!) the nosewheel leg collapsed and I found myself staring at the NZWB tarmac. To try and lessen the damage I steered off the runway and onto the grass, which also slowed me down to a quick stop.

I had to run onto the runway and try and drag the leg away as a pair of F-16Ks were taxying at the time of my "incident", and I know an FOD then would've been nasty.

With some help from the airport authorities we hitched '563 to a ute and drove her to our hangar, where we jacked her up and drained all the remaining fuel.

It will be a while before the damage is repaired, as the two wheelwell covers were dramatically shaved due to the sanding quality of tarmac, and we now need to start a search for a replacement nosewheel.

So unfortunately I've had to call the organisers of the Wings Over Wairarapa air show (to be held Jan 20/21) and cancel our display - 563's debut will instead (God willing!) be at this Easter's Classic Fighters Marlborough show at Omaka. Fingers crossed! We'll keep you posted of any developments.
