Captain Canada

Hi guys !

I'm just fishing for a few opinions here.......

I bought a Tucano, and obviously, it's gonna be CDN ! But what to do ? RCN ? Looks like a pretty easy wing fold. It could either be a light attack bird, or a trainer. It could also be a CDN Army support a/c, or an RCAF attack bird, or RCAF trainer !

Or maybe I should just buy five more ?

And as for the Tracker, I was thinking armament. Sea Skua ? Torpedoes ? Rocket pods ? Gun pods ? I was also thinking of maybe having a pair of Sidewinders as a protective measure.....

Now let's say you were also building a CCG Tracker, and it was gonna be overall red. Would you paint white panels on the wing tip area ? You know, kind of a reverse to the usual CDN scheme with the red on the wings ?

Anyway, back to Hockey Night in Canada !

For tucano:

AMRAAM
Sparrow
Radar
LGB
Maveric missile
Refuel recepticle
USMC or Canada Army
Wingtip sidewinders?

You could also do it up as a RAF super fighter in 1945   Or USAF replacement for P-51

Tracker could be made into a WW2 medium bomber! :)

Tucanos and Trackers, eh?  I've got both on the bench myself, and while I know what I'm doing with my Tracker (Imperial Iranian Navy in their P-3F scheme), the Tucano I was leaning towards USAF or USN trainer.

With the Tucano, I'd got RCAF trainer, as Sidewinders on the thing just look goofy in my opinion (mocked it up a few weeks back, looked... odd).  Besides, you have that really attractive trainer paint scheme on your Hawks, it'd look really sharp on a Tucano.

For the Tracker, Sea Skuas would just look cool on it, though I like your idea of CCG.  I'd paint the wings with that white panels as you describe them.  That'd look sweet!

Great, you just gave me a new direction to consider for my Tracker, one I thought I KNEW how I was going to do it.  Now, it's calling to me "Paint me up as the USCG counterpart to Toad's!"

Is it bad when you hear your models talk to you in your own head?    :dum:

These are gonna look cool when you're done!

Yes, yes it is ! Usually, it leads to going back to the shop and buying more kits !

USCG sounds cool, Anthony, but I love the IIN idea. Theri Sea Kings were the coolest ever.

Who was it, Taiwan that had those awesome turbo-trackers painted blue ?

Mmmm....Trackers.........

Tucano: Pretend it's a CT-156 Harvard II and paint it with Snowbirds' scheme as their new mount for, say, 2011.

Your Tracker reverse white wingtips idea is great.
Underside, I would paint wide white diagonal lines alternating with red (like target towing tugs) and have large "RESCUE" lettering done across the lines in inverse colors (white on red; red on white).

Baz, my brother said almost the exact same thing about underwing stripes. Couple of wierdos........

;)

I do think the white wing tips will look nice, tho.

As far as the Tucano goes,I'm not sure I'd go with wingtip rails, but if you did it up like Brazil and their Super Tucanos, with underwing rails, thats might look pretty cool.As far as colors, what about maybe SEA or European One in service with the USAF as a modern version of the Skyraider.Add some Mk.82s and rocket pods.Maybe some wing mounted .50s or minigun pods.

In one of the calendars I bought after Christmas, there's a picture of an FAB Super Tucano.  It's painted in a green and yellow camo scheme, and it has wing-mounted guns and underwing pylons.  It looks pretty cool in there amid all the jets.

What to do with a Tucano and Tracker?

Why not do both together? Modern day Mistel. Put the Tucano on top of the Tracker.

At least that's what came to mind when I read the subtitle of this thread.
