Revell 1/32 Kits

I started transitioning to 1/32 kits, and I"ve been picking up some Revell kits since they tend to be cheaper, and can look as good as the more expensive models with a little TLC.  For example, my 1/32 F-16A just arrived in the mail today.  I plan to steal a cockpit from the 1/32 Hasegawa kit, insert a resin ejection seat, rescribe it, and paint it up in Phil AF markings.  Basically a scale up of my 1/48 project.  Also, on the way is a 1/32 Revell F-18A and F-15E.  I think I"ll make the F-18A into an Air National Guard what if, and the F-15E will be a scale up of my cancelled 1/48 CF-155E.

And now if only I can get back to modeling like I had hoped last month.  Stupid school... :dum:
Man, we should have cloned twenties. Jackson wouldn't have given a poo-poo.

The Revell 1/32 Hunter is one of the best kits I have ever built, and even better its dirt cheap  B)

Can you imagine if they did a 1/32 Eurofighter or Mirage 2000?

oh yeah, I hope Revell gets on that.  It seems to me that the majority of 1/32 kits that have come out in recent years have been by Trumpeter or Tamiya.  But Trumpeter usually has it's shape issues and Tamiya's kits are usually extremely pricey.  With the Typhoon in service now, yeah, it'd be real nice if Revell jumps on that.  I have their Tornado kit (waiting on the BB cockpit) and I love the level of detail it provides at such a low cost.

Not to mention the 1/32 Lightning (EE type) that they were planning to do.  They bought all the research and patterns for the Lightning from Echelon, then shelved the project when somone told them it would never sell.

Apparently the Hunter in 1/32 hasn't sold terribly well, which may be why it's so dirt cheap, nice as it is.

Yeah, I heard that it wasn't a good seller.  They were planning on doing a 2-seater with the moulds (check out the parts breakdown) but said that sales weren't good enough to justify it :(

15 quid for such an outstanding model is incredible.  Obviously it isn't the subject since they've done the Hunter in 1/72 and 1/144 since then.  Maybe 1/32 just doesn't go down as well in dear old blighty.

If you can't shift Hunters at £15, how are Trumpeter gunna shift their Lightning at £80 a pop?  Won't stop me buying one mind ;)

Captain Canada

You must be planning on buying a big house, eh KD ?

I've had my eyes on that big Airfix Sea harrier for years....might do it, someday !

Wow, that's surprising.  I've always thought that was one of the more popular classic jets to model.  Maybe Trumpeter will pick it up eventually.

 Not quite.  I had a spreadsheet listing all of the 1/48 aircraft I've planned to build, but I've drastically cut that list, and have even sold off some of my 1/48 stash.  I'm now trying to focus more on 1/32 kits, and having stricter standards on what I plan to build.

Speaking of large scale kits, man, imagine if you had your house full of those 1/18 Badcat toys!

A 1/32nd Lightning ? Sign me up.  They had a great show on last week where a F-16 jock gets to fly one, and gets out of the cockpit with a big grin on his face, saying "this is a Cadillac!"  He loved the jet.
Always been one of my fave's too...

There's a couple of boxings of the Hasegawa F-5E too - always a fave of mine, despite the raised panel lines. I'll echo what my good friend Nev said about the Hunter aswell. Built one not long after it came out, couldn't believe how much (good quality) plastic you get for how little money - like the Typhoon.

Haven't got the display space for too many 1:32 models, didn't stop me buying a Tamiya F-4J though..... and that Trumpy A-7 looks very tempting..... an I'm really looking forward to their P-40 & P-47 kits.....

Oh dear  :(

Hannants confirmed last year that Trumpeter are to release a 1/32 Lightning F6.  Rumours abound about a 1/32 Bucc and spey F-4 as well....

Really?  Then how come *nobody* else has heard or said word one about it?  I'll believe it when I see it...

There were several threads about it on ARC late last year.  I forget which show it was, but several punters posted to say Hannants were confirming its existance.

Of course, given the lengthy gestation periods of Trumpeters big kits it may be years before it ever hits the shelves.

QuoteThe Spitfire F22/24 is reputedly just as vile to build.
Yep, I friend of mine had a go at one some years back, the wing/fus joint was appalling. Strangely though; apparently the Matchbox (and recently re-issued RoG) 1:32 Tiger Moth is a delight to build, if you can stand all the bracing that goes with building biplanes. AND, believe it or not the Matchbox 1:32 Bf109E is much more accurate in dimension and outline than the (admittedly very dated) Hasegawa one.

I'd love to build another 1:32 kit, really got an appetite for that Trumpy P-40 !

Radish

I might be tempted to have some fun with the Revell re-issue of the Sea Venom.... splayed out fins of course, and there's huge modelling potential in some other 1/32nd kits.

What about "whiffing" something hugely expensive from Tamiya or Trumpeter?
