Should it be Fairey?
B)
The Fairey Spectre??
I'm going to do some texts for the models soon, and want to settle on the name.
I'm influenced by the Fairey idea, sounds plausible. ;)

Well going by Fairey's work on Delta wings, I'd go with Fairey, but you could have it being sub-contracted to Bolton-Paul to keep your Black Country links Rad ? BTW I thought BP were an East Anglian company ?

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

The Mirage III was influenced by the FD.2, which was tested at at a French airbase (Casaux) in October and November 1956 and thoroughly examined by Dassault's people.

The first Mirage was the MD550 (25 June 1955), barely supersonic in a dive, followed by the first Mirage III which flew just after the FD.2 tests in France ended. (17 November 1956). This model was limited to Mach 1.5, which was increased to 1.65 (17 April 1958) by installing half-cone centrebodies in the inlet and a higher thrust engine.

Revisions to the Mirage's wing changed it from 57 deg to 60 deg, and reduced thickness/chord from 5% to 4.5% at the root and 3.5% at the tip. The FD2 had a 60 deg wing, a 4% t/c...

Fairey Spectre.

The first was done many moons ago......saw the light of day the Huddersfield show in February, and the next was begun then, at the show, but you know how it is....other propjects take over, the cricket, panto, gardening, holidays, etc..

Anyway, back to the re-started project...the Fairey Spectre F.5, AVON powered with a very long nose (courtesy of a thick knitting needle, sawn off and super-glued in place).

Thinking of Italian Air Force in wraparound grey/green, all faded and extremely dirty and worn, and with lots of pylons under the fuselage (think Kfir-type fit) but with high-viz big markings, circa 1975.

Also, after that, if it all goes to plan, a second example of the F.5 in RAF Desert Pink, using heavily stained Tamiya Flesh as the colour....gives a lovely glow-in-the-dark-type colour!
And who knows?
Perhaps a Spectre F.3 with a wrap-around Aggressor colour scheme for RAF use?
Or Taiwan??

Loved Geoff's Boeing Mirage IIIW which was on display the other night at Doncaster.

Hoping to get the next Spectre done for the Cov show next weekend, but failing that, certainly for the SIG meet in October :ar:

OK, that Avon -powered Mirage IIIE kit is now the Fairey Spectre FGA.5, with the long nose, etc..
I'll finish the plastic bit today.....u/c, stores, etc.. Plus some extra bits.
The Kfir gives me ideas.

Who will fly it?
Thinking either Aussie   or Malaysian

It'll be a wraparound scheme too.....dirty, weathered, get the picture?
Well.....done for Hinckley (for a public display!) but I'll send someone pictues too.

oooooh, it ain't half looking sleek and nasty.
The long droopy nose suits it.

Anyway, tending towards using the kit decals, Aussie (I gave all the others off that sheet away).
Grey all over.
The outer pylons have the "electronic" stuff while the underfuselage pylon will be either empty or have "iron bombs" from the kit.

The big fuel tanks are fitted, and I've used the Sidewinders and pylons.launch racks just inside the wing/fuselage join.

The "evolution" of the Spectre FB.7B is taking place....
....looks like RAF after all.
Grey all over, with some operational weathering of course!
Squadron? Possibly 318 (Polish Sqn)? or 315??? :D

We need pics of the whole family... I like the concept !!!
King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

It's quite possible that a Spectre F.1.......Mirage IIIE will be "up" next. A quick build.
On the other hand, I frequently can't resist tampering, so who knows?
I've lots of Mirage IIIE kits to have a bash at.

On another note, I had a squint at the Hobby Boss Mirage IIIC/CJ on Sunday at Huddersfield.
It looks excellent value and has a multitude of parts....far too many for me though.
Perhaps lots are related to underwing stores, so I might indulge at some point.
Who knows?

Mirages look stunning with long, lengthened noses, so my Spectre F1 might become a Spectre F1B
