Does anyone remember that fantastic 3D "Harbor Model" Luis Bacharel did, based on the old Matchbox kit?

Well, he just e-mailed me and it seems Revell USA liked his first 3D virtual model kit enough to ask him to do one for their site:

That's very cool!

I'm a little embarrassed to admit that that's the first model I've completed in a year.

That's very cool.

When the Matrix movies were out in theaters ther was a somewhat more elaborate Nebuchanezzar "Virtual Model" on their site, where you had to actually cut the parts off the sprues and fit them together. Looked for it for a while, couldn't find it...

I remember that thing.  It was a stone b!tch to put together, too, especially considering that it only existed in cyberspace.  I seem to remember someone on the Starship Modeler forum talking about converting the CG parts to resin, but I don't recall if they ever got anywhere with the project.
