Hey all,

Well everyone knows that, like Ray Hanna, I have a thing for P-40s. Perfect in every way. Thus I'm a major supporter of this grand GB.

ENTRY #1

Lana was/is a big fan of Sue Parish's "Pink Lady", a P-40N-5 now on display at the Kalamazoo Air Zoo. It was a big wish of hers to do a build of this semi-legendary P-40, but with a twist. She envisioned a Kiwi version, but with her move away and our separation this was not to be. However, I have pledged to do her dream justice.

Thus, you see below the humble beginnings of a pink legend!

I plan on doing some distinctively Kiwi things to this gorgeous girl, and hopefully Lana loves the finished project. The kit is the terrifically engineered Hasegawa -E in 1:72 which, even on the sprues, just makes my heart skip a few beats and think "God, I Love P-40s!".

More updates tomorrow!

Cheers,
Zac

You're off to a nice start there, Zac! I'm really intrigued by this project and can't wait to see how it all turns out!

Looking good, just don't drink out of that cup !

K5054NZ

Thanks for the kind words, dudes! Well Greg, I've come close to cleaning my brush in my Coke, and have at least twice reached for "that cup" to have some refreshment. Ewwwwwww!!!

Last night I was able to put the wings together, and I'm now waiting for the chin intake parts to dry so I can put the fuselage together. I could conceivably have her done today, but we all know that this never happens! ;)  The fact that the allover paint scheme is gloss doesn't help matters much....

K5054NZ

Okay folks, I have some long-awaited downtime coming up soon so Femme dans le Rose shall receive some attention soon! I am about ready to join the fuse halves, I just need to buy some more Flat Black so I can do the chin intake.

Okay, a pic of progress as it stands:

Since this image was taken the freshly-restored horizontal stabilisers were placed in position

Being owned by renowned pilot and occasional collector Alana Maulder, this P-40 was restored without any armament. Hence the filling of the spent cartridge chutes on this build.

I won;t promise I'll work on it today as I just got my Fw-190 and I'm not overly keen on PSR today!

Cheers,
Single Zac

THE GIANT HAND !

Brian da Basher

Nice progress Zac! Greg has reminded me to ask you if Lana can out-fly the
GIANT HAND.

Heh, heh.  It's funny when someone ELSE has to do the dreaded PSR.

Heh.   ;)
Styrene in my blood and an impressive void in my cranium.

Hey all,

Got the first three coats of High Gloss Pink onto this lovely lady last night and tonight, I'll hopefully be able to post pics tomorrow. I'll be working on this baby inbetween 11 Kittiwakes.

Cheers,
Zac

Hey again folks.

Trust me, there ARE pics - I just need to upload 'em. Unfortunately Mum and Dad's PC is a tad too old to let me do that, so you'll have to wait until I get their new baby hooked up to the interwebs.

Update? Another two coats of High Gloss Pink. Gosh, I hate gloss so very much!

Pics when I can. Till then, just imagine a pink P-40 with a Kiwi twist..... ^_^

Cheers,
Zac

Apologies for the lateness of this, but here at long last is my first entry into the P-40 GB, in progress still:

Still another few dozen coats of High Gloss Pink to go on before decaling and final work.

Hehehe....can't wait to polish this one off!
