Hey all!

I've got the need to do a Luf '46 maritime stiker, either based on an Uhu, an Ar-240 or the BV P.194 (could do it on a P.1099, too, I guess...).

However, I have absolutely no axis air-launched torpedoes in 1/72 scale. Is there anywhere I can get some of these? I don't care if it's German, Italian or Japanese, I just need a fish or two.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!

IIRC there is a set or two of German air launched weapons from a Czech company in 72nd. I would check some of the online model shops like squadron, great models, hannants etc

Would you care for early anti-ship missiles? I have some spare Fritz-X and Hs-something glide bombs.

Those missiles are cool, indeed, but I'm looking for actual torpedoes.

I want to use a standard WWII torpedo, not a guided bomb or 'flying torpedo'.

Still, I'm going to have to look into those...  :D

OK, they are free to go to good home.

Of course, unless I find a way to fit them with a nuke warhead... B)

For the standard Axis air launched torp, I would just use the Sparverio kit from Italeri...or see if you can find some spares somewhere...other than that, I think you are left with scratchbuilding.

I built  the air launched torp in an hour or two:

If it's still available (I think that it originally appeared @ 2000) Revell-Germany produced a torpedo carrying 1/72 Fw-190 F8/R14. Also, Italeri produced the torpedo carrying Ju-88 A17 in their series of Ju-88 kits.

DML/Dragon has an air launched BT-1400  torpedo in their Ar234C-3/C-4 kit.

Their recent Ar-234P kit is based on their C-3 kit and even includes the torpedo (you can see it in one of the sprue shots).

It's still a relatively easy and cheap kit to pick up here in the UK and after you've used the torpedo you still have a very nice Fw 190 to play with - probably your best bet for an Axis torpedo
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.
