Single seat + single engines Grumman A-6 version !

In the latest "International Air Power Review" issue (No. 10) is a fine article regarding the Vought A-7 Corsair II in US Navy Service ....

On page 129 - regarding the development - is a short note that Grumman proposed a single seat version of the A-6 Intruder for the VAL-contest ??

Does anyone have some more information or even a picture (model), painting, drawing, plan .... ? I'm not sure but I think I remember one in the older Squadron book series A-7 in action !!??

Can anyone help ?

As I remember, it was basically a single-seat A-6, but still with two engines.  If I remember correctly, Francillion's book in the Putnam series had some details.  The "Warbird Tech" book on the A-6 may also have info.  As a first approximation, I'd speculate that a first-generation Harrier windscreen and canopy might work for the conversion.

I've got the same picture (thank GOD for Squadron/Signal! ), the 'In Action' book also mention a NAA FJ-4 variant for the VAL-X comp.
