Anyone know where I can get hold of 1/72 Brazilian Navy decals?  There for a WWII period build, but I could probably adapt others.  If not, Brazilian Air Force will do.  I've seen a few sets in 1/48 but not in 1/72. FCM do some Air Force P-40 sheets but only their P-47 sheet is available in Hannants.  Anyone know any other suppliers?

Cheers!

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Mossie the Zotz S America sheet has modern Brazilian markings

I've used the FCM P-47 sheet. It's ok but the you apply the transfers and then remove a "top surface" - bit fiddly

Are you just after the Brazilian National markings ?

Chris
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

simon,

the most recent boxing of the airfix navy lynx has markings for a brazilian navy
variant.

i am not aware of any sheets with WW2 brazilian AF markings on, but i have seen
a few profiles. one was in the SAMI feature on the douglas boston recently and before
that it was a P-47 years ago.

afaik, brazilian P-47's served in italy during WW2 after 1943 methinks.

Cheers guys!  Chris, I hadn't thought of the Zotz sheet, I might pick one up as it'd be handy to have some decals of various nations as my bank seems to be mostly UK markings with a few US thrown in.

Trev, the Airfix Lynx sheet is what inspired me & I've still got them (I built it a couple of years ago to see if I still had a taste for modelling) but it's only got two roundels, I'd need at least four & although useable, they're not the best quality.  I could be convinced to add a Lynx to my stash though, it's a nice kit but it'd give me more ideas for a complex build....  arrrggghhh!

The Brazilian Navy's air arm's markings haven't changed since they were established so I'm safe there, but I preferably wanted the 'MARINHA' & anchor markings in white but I'll guess black will have to do.  To be honest, I'm not even sure they were on wartime aircraft as I can't find any references, only Air Force, but what the hell!

From what I can gather the Brazilian Air Force, they were usually assigned to US units using US equipment, in a similar way to foreign units in the RAF.  Markings were usually painted right over the top of the US ones, so I'm going for a similar approach with the Navy.  From what I can gather, the Brazilian Navy only had a few Coastal Defence ships during WWII, so I might end up going for Air Force anyway!
