Looking at Hannants new releases this morning I came across these "RESIN RIMS AND ELASTIC RUBBER WHEELS". Given how previous accessories containing rubber tyres etc were generally held it will be interesting to see how they go down.

Hannants also have Tomcat and B-17 sets released at the same time.

That's interesting, not often we get something totally new in this field.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

QuoteGrumman Avenger RESIN RIMS AND ELASTIC RUBBER WHEELS consists of rims printed with hard 3D resin and tires printed with flexible 3D polymer that fully mimics the properties of natural rubber. This product can be easily painted with all available modeling paints and tinted. Unlike other polymer resins and rubbers, our product does not deteriorate over a long period of time, does not leave stains on the model storage shelves, does not change its geometric shape.

This could save me a lot of stress and tourettes, as I really do not like painting wheels and tyres. Doing them separately like this is something I would like more of.

Yup much prefer separate tyres and hubs  although as long as the hubs are well defined it's ok as long as you just let your tyre colour flow around the hub. It's when they are not well defined that it's  :banghead:  :banghead:

tell me about it Chris. No matter how careful I am I always manage to mess them up. I have taken to using cocktail sticks for them now, and taking even longer, still make a mess :banghead:

Printable "rubber" filament has been around for years and liquid resin types have been available for a while. They're extensively used for the purpose of product design prototyping and actual manufacture.

Note that none of them are actually rubber or the "vinyl" with which we're all familiar, so I wouldn't use that old-school technology as a baseline for the longevity of these "new" products.

Good to know, thanks Jon!

In that case, how about they print replacement single-length tracks as after-market items with which to replace the old vinyl "rubber-band" tracks that still come with so many mdels. <_<
