Falkland Gb Rules

OK folks, sorry I havent got these posted earlier, but for the most part they are generic common sense GB rules anyway, and are virtually identical to the proposed rules I posted earlier.

1. Build runs from January 09-June 14 2007.

2. All subjects are eligble (aircraft, armor, ships, etc), but should fit into the basic scenario of a brief conventional war between Britain and Argentine in 1982.  Any alt histories bringing in allies on either side or changing equipment are fine.

3. Every entry should be accompanied by a backstory. As much as we all love building our little war machines, both real and speculative, war is a very bad thing. One aspect of this build should be our way of paying our respects to the 1,000+ soldiers, sailors, and airmen who lost their lives in the service of their respective countries during this War. We should each read up a little to learn a bit more about their sacrifice and put the effort forward to develop a bit of a backstory for our builds.

4. Winner picked by popular vote, based on a combination of idea, build, and backstory.  Voting will be private via PM to me after the build closes, jsut lke we usually do.

5. Prizes I am planning would be the "Vulcan 607" book, an Airfix/MPC Vulcan Kit and a Super Etendard or Skyhawk kit. Winner takes his or her pick, followed by second place, 3rd place gets what's left.

6.  There is NO rule 6!

7. As usual, fun is the goal, with the caveat that too much silliness may not be appropriate for a build intended to memorialise those who served and died in an armed conflict (any PINK Skyhawks or SHARS better have a dang good backstory explaining the operational need for said pink!).  ;)

This is the first time I've done this, so I apologise for anything not addressed.  You guys can probably figure it out though!

Have fun guys!
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

It starts today?!?  That sneaked up fast, I've yet to start my Secret Santa build!  I'm in, with a TSR2 operated from South Georgia, kind of an extension to Operation Paraquat, the mission to re-take that island.  I figured that with TSR2's short field capability, you'd be able to operate them from South Georgia.  They'd then be in range of the Falklands, but out of range of aircraft based in Argentina.  A big tactical advantage, the worst aspect of which would be dealing with South Georgia's notorious weather.

Theres a good account here (if not the most eloquent) of Operation Paraquat for anyone that's interested.  It's got quite a lot of the authors own opinions in there, some of which I agreed with, some not, but the main facts are covered well:

I'll give more detail to my backstory when I start my build.  I've been reading up a fair bit, this build has got me really interested in digging up the history of the Falklands War.  I read Vulcan 607 a few months back & I picked up two books at the weekend.  Forward into Hell by Para Vince Bradley is a squaddies account of the war, which I'm part way through.  Sea Harrier Over the Falklands by Commander 'Sharkey' Ward, is another personal account, this time of the Air War.

Simon.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

You can say that again!

Providing work allows, I will be in with either a ..... or a .....

I already have the backstory in my HD  from mid-december!!!  ;)

King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

Are previously built models able to be entered?  How about models built for other GB's?

Oops-forgot to address those points!

For the first, I think no-all entries must be built between Jan 09 and June 14.  Apart from the Phoenix build this seems pretty standard so I'll stick with it (however little things like cockpit already painted wouldnt eliminate a build).

As for the second question, I have no problem with building a model for multiple GBs, so yes a model built for another GB would be OK.
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

Any limit on the number of enteries?

QuoteCan spoof newspapers be used as part of a build?  Got all the requisite elements for one...
Sounds interesting!  I dont see any problem with it.
