Here is the winning entry from the Category Jasta Schweinhimmel (or if you prefer - fun with WWI). Jasta Schweinhimmel  was a perfect WW I what if and there were over 20 entries in the category. All entries were 48th scale.

Looks like something the Basher would have come up with.
Except, no spats.

Wow that's wickedly fun, braincells! Thanks for posting the pic of that wonderfully unique Fokker-Whiff and the link to the rest of the show pics. I can never get enough show pics!

Just checked it out.
Some nice Whiffs, any idea who did the stretched Caribou?

Also, some of those WWI ideas were pretty nice, especially the Albratros in Swedish Splinter.

Thank you Braincells!

Jawdroppingly wonderful.

Do you know any of the blokes who made those models?

If so, please give them a pat on the back from

Terry,

It looks like Seattle had a great show again.   Thanks for the link.   Any time one gets to see a GeeBeeski Polikarpov, a MacDonalds Buzz Bomb, and the Officer Extraction Unit all in a few minutes, one knows its a fantastic day.

Awesome stuff ! Are there ever some nice builds in there, and loads of CDN content ! I was wondering about that Caribou myself. WTF is it ? Real ? Never seen one like that, I have to admit.

Also some really nice work in the smaller scales.

I'll have to check in tomorrow for the other categories.

Thanks for sharing !

And it was even more enjoyable to have been there at the show to enjoy all of the models on display up close and personal.  And always a pleasure to see "President For Life Terry Moore" in person...

Doug worked from a very small 3-view from, IIRC, a book on DHC aircraft. The layout was evidently an actual contender in the design process that led to the production version of the Caribou.

Terry's XP-67 and XP-72 along with Mike Millete's F-106J were strong contenders, but in the end I had to give the award to Doug's Caribou. He did a beautiful job of making a damned near seamless mod of a fairly clunky kit. The reality and plausibility elements of the build were a big factor in my decision.

I will be sponsoring the award again next year.

Cheers, Jon

Thanks for the info, Jon. I have the Canadair book, and have been meaning to grab the DHC one. Both by Larry Milberry, I believe.

What about the Lanc X with the Orenda pods ? That sure looks nice. Do you have any more shots of her ?

Some nice models there.

As to a stretched Caribou, there is actually a proposal to insert a 1m (I think) plug in the fuselage.  This has been looked at as part of a proposal for the RAAF's Caribous - the full upgrade would consist of the fuselage plug, total re-lifing of the airframe, new turbo-props plus a new upgraded cockpit.
