I'm working on a project and I've decided it should wear the wonderful maple leafs of the RCAF. Trouble is, I have no idea what color schemes the RCAF used in the 1930s and Google has been little help. I was thinking of overall silver or gray with yellow wings but I was hoping some of you fine folks might have more knowledge.

Did RCAF front-line aircraft wear paint schemes similar to the RAF or did they use something different? Your help is most appreciated!

The RCAF, such as it was in the 1930s (ie: not much), used basic RAF type colors & markings.  AFAIK there were no uniquely Canadian markings applied until after WWII.

Could just as well be RAF ;)

 Yes, the RCAF really only expanded with WW2.
Before then the really only way to tell a RCAF aircraft from a RAF aircraft (same for Aussie too) was the serial. RCAF aircraft had just numerals.
BUT....
this is What if, and so an SE5A would look stunning in silver dope, with Arctic Red panels and full Maple Leaf insignia.
What a great idea!!!!

Yup, pretty much RAF style. Alot of the aeros were in natural metal, tho.

I believe the Canadian Schematic Act of 1914 required all RCAF aircraft to be painted yellow.
